been this price for a few weeks. but i picked up the one with a 230 plug
worked well so far. suggest getting a magnet dip stick and changing oil before the first 5 hrs of runtime. i changed it at 4 and it was already pretty dirty.

Hi, by the one with 230 you mean the cheaper one with 4500W surge?
I would like to get a generator that I could just connect extension cords too or connect to a transfer switch so it can powered that way.

it has the 120/240(some call it a 230) plug
i got this one 2 weeks ago for $413 which was normal price the last couple months. id been watching generators for a while. looks like amazon is out atm and the other sellers jacked up the price.
if you get this, i would also suggest an hour meter

The WEN DF475T Dual Fuel 120V/240V appears to be discontinued. It was well priced for a 240V generator with a L14 30R outlet that makes it transfer switch ready for house connection. The electric start and duel fuel are icing. There are a few other duel fuel 4k-6k similarly priced but pull start. I suggest pp consider those even if they do not have electric start.
Installing the house L14 30R inlet typically is an afterthought. I strongly suggest completing this as a first step. There are many ways to accomplish the home interface. One of the easiest and least expensive ways is to do it right at the meter. Almost any homeowner can install the transfer switch and the inlet socket. The charge for an electrician to move the house feed wire from the meter box to the transfer switch should be minimal. Then all he needs to do is reconnect the meter outlet ( utility power ) to the transfer switch. Done.
The other way to do it is at the house breaker panel. But if the panel is inside one still needs to run the gen cable outside through the wall.
No tax and free shipping direct from WEN. Clean inverter power and quieter for only 250 less running watts.(4000/3500 *66lbs VS 4750/3750 *112lbs!!! OP deal)

I also bought this. It seems like the best value for an inverter generator.

I've been eying this one as well. Having just survived the Texas snowstorms this seems like cheap insurance for the future. 4000w would be plenty for me, and space is an issue, so this one would be great. Do I need to drain it every time after use?

Or if you really want to get fancy you can get the Wen 11000\8300 Duel Fuel for $882, cost a wee bit over twice a much but has over well over double the power on gasoline (exactly double on LPG gas) and its same price at Lowes also where I just ordered one.
While a 3750 might take care of your very basic essentails, my Briggs and Stratton Stormed responder 5500 tripped on me a few times during the Texas freeze, and I was looking for something a little larger and the Wen seemed like a deal beings it should be able to run my A/C also (never know when you might lose power in the summer especially with all the hurricanes of late) I still will probably have to cut a little something off when I run my water heater but so be it, beats spending $10k+ on a Generac.

I'm sure you checked out the other options such as iGen4500 and Wen i400. Mind sharing on how you narrowed it down to the Predator?
