This is definitely YMMV for "select cardholders".

Didn't get this offer so I wonder what the criteria is.

What is this?? It doesn't seem like a deal deal to be on slickdeals? Isn't this the deal Apple normally runs 🤔

Can't pay income tax with this card. IRS payment processors accept Mastercard, Visa and Amex and Paypal, but not Apple pay.

I didn't get this offer either. I assume it's to entice cardholders who rarely use their Apple Card to use it but I don't know.

from the article this is how it's different from normal:
Usually, customers receive a minimum 1% back for using the card, rising to 2% for Apple Pay transactions, and 3% for Apple Card with Apple Pay purchases through Apple's outlets and select partners. In an email to select Apple Card customers, Apple is changing the Apple Pay Daily Cash reward to 3% for all qualifying transactions, regardless of retailer.

it's not a top tier credit card for rewards, but the 3% on apple.com is kind of nice to buffer the hit of sales tax on stuff that rarely goes much less than retail (e.g. current gen iphones/macbooks/ipads etc) combined with the 10% off for veterans.

all that said, no email here either. Also hard to think of any retailers that take apple pay where 3% cash back would be better than existing reward cards.

If I may have deleted the offer email, what other way is there to check that I received the 3% offer (aside from making a purchase)?

Ahhh makes sense. Yes this seems like something that is a Pure luxury for Apple users to save money in the long run. I already purchased an iPad and it's my only apple device I use so this would really not be beneficial to me. Thank you!

yep and it's a really nice mastercard that is fit to show off rather than actually use. just check in your iphone wallet under the apple card to see all the 3% offers where you can starting earning more. all of the major 2% credit cards are going to 3% because they can see this huge explosion the country (and the world) is about to have and they want to be the go-to card. there are airline flights and cruises and vacations and sporting events and concerts and other group activities just waiting to be booked....

Apple Card is a Mastercard, so of course you could pay taxes with it. You just would be limited to the mediocre 1% cash back when using the card/card number directly.

Here I'm paying 450 for a metal card with chase. Seems decent value if I'm into apple ecosystem
