These ARE clamps. You're not wrong but I believe what BeautifulStar is pointing out is this model doesn't reverse which is a common and very useful function of.... clamps

On older Irwin clamps, you could remove the fixed end and put it on the other side to turn it into a spreader:

That feature is missing from newer Irwin clamps, though with some ingenuity you could make it work.

This deal is getting more often. It is almost a standard price now.

I bought these awhile back. They're garbage. Good for light work, but mine don't even reverse for spreading, which was a big feature for me.

Good price, I think these did hit ~$12 a month back but not sure how regular that deal is

Bought these last deal. The quality on these has suffered since I bought a set in 2010-ish. Trigger lock is awful on this new iteration; it sliced my thumb. Doesn't seem as rigid as my older set too.

Meh, I've been pretty happy with my HF clamps. I'm a light user and they are cheaper with a lifetime warranty too.

They are ggood for light medium duty and easy to use single handed and have a place. They are not heavy duty, they are not spreaders. They are not an all purpose clamp for everything. They are $4 each. There are others that are better and different types of clamps and they are not $4 each. In my opinion, you can never have enough clamps and these have a place in the mix of types and lengths. I think these have been cheaper or included 2 12inch ones in the 4 pack recently

For 16 bucks, this is a great deal. These clamps really come in handy when you just need to clamp something really fast. I've had these lying around, and when holding two pieces of wood I needed to drill together, I could just rely on these to do the job quickly and efficiently.

You can just have them on the table when doing a project, and you know you'll need a quick clamp.

For bigger projects, you can go with your more expensive clamps, but the average at home once in a while handy man doesn't need anything more than this. They don't take up too much room, and stack real easily side by side.

Yep, that is exactly what I was trying to point out, thanks.

The thing that makes no sense to me is that the only thing preventing this is they lack a hole drilled in one end of the clamp. You can remove the pad on the end, you just can't install it on the other end.

They've cost reduced these to almost nothing.

I've used these clamps a dozen times for light duty jobs over the last 9 months or so. They work great for my modest needs. I've used them to help build my office sliding doors and garage ceiling strorage shelves.

Bought one to fix my cabinet front panel that is in the process of breaking apart. This should do the job I think.
