Looks like the biggest tank they sell is 75gal for $105. Shame they don't carry larger tanks cause I would buy one that is over 100 gallons.

A LFS carries bigger tanks over 100 gallons, but those are $400 from them. I've also been looking at used tanks, but most of them are under 40 gals.

The 125gal aqueon kit from petsmart goes on sale from time to time usually around the holidays for 500. It's 650 normal price which some might say is a decent deal in itself

I'd buy one if I knew anything about maintaining fish. With my luck they'd be dead after a day of bringing them home. 🥴

I can only speak to freshwater tropical fish but the main thing I see people doing is adding fish to the tank before the tank has had time to become established. Doing that always kills the fish because the ammonia, nitrates and nitrates have not normalized. Once the tank is established you should be fine with regular water changes.

I must be doing something wrong, I've never changed water, just added when low.

depends on your water. some people have hard water or high in solids. After a while evaporation will cause the water to be unlivable for most organisms like the Salton Sea.

No matter what rubbish you hear, this is the best deal for these type of tanks out there that're from a major box store, nationwide while also having a solid return policy.

As a reminder, there are people that've bought 200+ of these aquariums that're not millionaires with their own online/in person fish/live plant stores.

Personally I've got several sizes including the 40 gallon breeder which is an insanely good deal. With no issues at all, I think its absolutely fantastic. You can even get the Fluval 107/207/307 for prices lower than historically low prices on Amazon by far simply if you pick up from store with a 25% off discount (they have a limit of $50 but you can make multiple orders which is what I did so I got the Fluval 307 then I got a seperate order wtih food/tanks and what not with an additonal $50 off).

Why do they have these insanely good deals?

It's easy

You buy that tank and guess what? You need substrate, right? You want some fishies to go with it, maybe live plants. What about lighting? You need a filter of some sort and maybe you are lazy and want a pre-made lid (greenhouse panels from Home Depot is AMAZINGLY good btw..they insulate, allow MORE lighting in than glass, ultra easy to cut and even make notiches from, you can even by clear hinges/handles from Amazon and you get the greenhouse panels from Home Depot or Lowes). Anyways, they make their money in hopes you go to them to fill up that aquarium, at least partially and guess what? After price shopping, they have excellent prices on many foods/medicines/chemical stuff from high quality Japanese brands too so yeah by all means buy other stuff too. (Note: In some instances Amazon is the cheapest so price shop of course)

Sorry for the rant, I've just seem some critical stuff here and there and because of that I was skeptical at first and then I kept watching YouTubers and realize the VAST majority of them buy almost exclusively their 20 and 40 gallons from Petco, it's actually the most popular way to go about it.

My only word of caution is anything over 40 gallons.. I believe they use the same thickness of glass and thats where some problems occur. On the 40 gallon its plenty thick, just dont be an idiot like some negative reviewers I saw where the glass cracked almost certainly from them dropping a rock on it and also understand 40 gallons is immense pressure and very heavy for the glass and most stands so make sure the tank and stand are leveled BEFORE you place ANYTHING in it.

Good luck!
