Not exactly a slick deal, but I've been wanting this lawn edger for a long time since I already have two Kobalt 80v batteries and it has decent ratings. It's been $199.00 for a very long time. This $20 off expires March 17th, 2021. Military discount works with this item as well. Cash back sites as well.
I have the Kobalt 80V trimmer and I wish Lowe's sells just the head unit of an edger that I can swap on my trimmer.
The older unit allowed attachments but the new ones are brushless but motor at the end. I have the older one and the edger attachment I have really doesn't do well because the motor is sorta week unless you edge weekly. It does work great with a limb saw blade though. Hoping they update to a new brushless attachment style.
You should check out the lowes in your area. They have been doing clearances on their reset items. Picked up the older trimmer with a busted head for 20 bucks without battery. Was going to just buy an edger attachment to pair with this.
Wow, I didn't know that I can pair a different brand with my Kobalt 80v trimmer. I just checked my trimmer model. It's KST140XB-06 and it says "attachment capable" on it. Do you think that Ryobi will work? I don't see anywhere about its voltage.

Mostly likely yes. Any "universal" style attachment should work. Most Ryobi branded attachments, TrimmerPlus brand, etc. I have the Ryobi edger and a TrimmerPlus pole saw attachment to go with the Kobalt 80V attachment capable head. All work great. The 80V has nothing to do with the attachments.

Get a Shakespeare wind-n-go bump head and a 10mm x 1.25 bolt. That is what I had to do for mine, works great so far. The bolts that came in the kit didn't fit.
-edit - I'm an idiot, didn't realize you were talking about the edger attachment instead of the trimmer head. I have the newer model that is not attachment capable. Although in my research it seems that the older one was a little lackluster when using attachments.
I bought a Ryobi 18v edger last year and it has been great. Already had Ryobi batteries so no extra cost for me.

No worries
No wonder I got the attachment capable one for $78 on a sale while ago trying to build my Kobalt 80v tools for cheap
Maybe I should try the Ryobi edger head in store with a display item and see how that works/sounds. I used my trimmer for edging purposes for the last 2 years while holding the unit in 90 degree angle. It worked fine but it's easy to screw the lawn edging if you are not careful
