In my opinion these are average. Huge bonus points if you are using airplay 2, as these would the cheapest option of speakers that are airplay 2 compatible. I have 4 of these throughout the house and I love them. If it were not for the airplay feature i would go for the larger JBL smart speakers.

Can you link these with the JBL flip series and play them both at the same time from the same device, or does it have to be with other "link" speakers.

I have the taller Link and it does not work with the software for any of the Flips I've tried it with. I haven't tried to play the Link's in stereo either on just bluetooth, but they will work in a google audio group.
i like these jbl link devices because i have a bunch in various rooms all linked to google home, and can play all at once and don't need to be wired together. sounds pretty decent and sortof my cheap sonos type of setup. Grabbing a pair of these to act as some surround satellites.
The speaker is not that good. I purchased from home depot thinking it was the original one with battery. Looking at the specs this is the plug-in version. The sound is not that great. Yes you can connect to bluetooth, like any google home device it's done using voice prompts. After initial connection you can connect to it via your phone.

I have 2 of these paired together and use as google assistant speaker set. I would say the sound is not that good compared to the nest speaker(medium size one). I would prefer to get nest speakers in a deal
