TN is the type of panel (IPS is preferable and possible in this price range). nits is a measure of brightness and this number is low, and 1366 number is the screen resolution. You can get a 1080p IPS touchscreen laptop for around $500 if you look hard. Many times they are Dells and have bad quality control but some have luck with them (i have had bad luck myself).
