I took a gamble and ordered an open box that was supposedly in fair condition. Returning it. It had clearly been dropped and had a dent on the corner. When I opened up the screen there was also a greasy handprint on the screen. Too bad, I like the form factor.

It's a hit or miss on open box, sometimes you can get a decent one and sometimes you get a really bad one.
I just returned one of these as there's the still occurring screen issues on these. The build quality is great but the screen issues can't be fixed easily. The reason why there are so many open boxes of this model is because so many people are returning them.
I purchased one for working at home due to Covid 2 weeks ago and returned it within 3 days. Lenovo support gives you the run around and say it could take up to a month to send in and get it repaired, that's if they don't give you a refurb.
Seriously, I spend ~1200 for a new laptop and Lenovo wants to give me a refurb within 3 days of using....

Yup. For what it's worth, the "satisfactory" one I got looked completely brand new in box with all the original packaging and manufacturing protective packaging. I was so impressed that I bought a second "satisfactory" one! Happy hunting - its been worth it for me!
