The CPU is a beast and the RAM and SSD are decent, but sure wish it had a better camera. Backlit keyboard is nice too, but I wonder about how dim the screen is. I know Lenovo can be hit & miss inre quality, but there is the Costco returns/warranty benefit. Can anybody pipe in with how these IdeaPad 5's are?

Unable to find the specific nits for this one, but similar model numbers have 300 nits.

That's a 4500U model. Screens probably are the same.

Is it worth it to pay a bit extra for Lenovo LEGION 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Ryzen 5 4600H - GeForce GTX 1650 - 120Hz 1080p at $679.99 ? Or this one should be similar for most usage?

https://www.costco.com/lenovo-leg...01707.html

AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6
15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 250nits Anti-glare, 120Hz, 45% NTSC, DC dimmer
  • 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1x power connector
  • 1x Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Always On)
  • 1x headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5mm)
  • 1x HDMI 2.0
  • 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (support data transfer and DisplayPort 1.2)

Looks like for IdeaPad 5, Memory soldered to systemboard (not upgradable), no memory slots. And there is no ethernet port.

Also IdeaPad 5 only support One drive up to 512GB M.2 2242 SSD or 512GB M.2 2280 SSD
While LEGION 5 have support HDD/SSD mode: up to two drives, 1x 2.5" HDD + 1x M.2 2242/2280 SSD

Any idea if the HD can be upgraded to a larger size? I encountered a desktop recently that couldn't go any bigger than 256GB NVMe due to a motherboard limitation which really stinks.
