It's not about the brand, but their quality/class. My 2012 Lenovo was made from aluminum, not cheapo plastic like nowadays. Dropped and stepped by my kids hundred times. Last year, the monitor screen got removed from it's case, but it's still function well.

Of course this flex may not perform the same built quality as they used to be, neither HP, Dell, Asus, MSI, etc. If you want quality, you need to pay the price. For $600, I don't think you will find well built quality at this spec on any brand.
This IdeaPad Flex 5 is the same as Lenovo IdeaPad 5, Memory soldered to systemboard, no memory slots. It has 16GB soldered to the systemboard.

Also Flex 5 only support one drive, 1x M.2 2280 SSD or 1x M.2 2242 SSD
• M.2 2280 SSD up to 1TB
• M.2 2242 SSD up to 512GB

If you want something up-gradable, IdeaPad is not for you.

Pay a bit extra for Lenovo LEGION 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Ryzen 5 4600H - GeForce GTX 1650 - 120Hz 1080p at $679.99 which you can upgrade memory and harddrive. May be wait for it to go onsale(?)

I just got this laptop in and im testing the wifi service and it seems super slow. Im within 10 feet of my wifi and im getting about 50 mbps. I tried with my iphone and im getting 310 mbps. Any ideas if this is whats expected or is it defective? I've tried updating the network drivers as well as ensuring power save mode doesnt take it off max performance.

May want to notice the link to the lenovo.com spec said
11ac, 2x2 + BT5.0

But in the Costco product page, it only has BT4.2.

Someone would question if the rest of the spec in lenovo.com page is accurate or not.

If the rest of the spec is accurate, the memory cannot be upgrade but the hard drive, it can support M.2 2280 SSD up to 1TB.
large retailers often have a slightly different version of a TV or computer made just for them and it can have slightly different specs than the "conventional " model sold by the manufacturer . So for example a retailer's custom version of a particular model TV may have fewer HDMI ports and sell for a $100 less . It's a way of beating the competition. I'm not sure that is the case here but if there are any discrepancies in the specs then I'd match the model numbers in the ad against those on the manufacturers web site and if there is a different letter at the end or some other small difference then you know they are selling a custom version. And if I am really serious I'd call the retailer and confirm the specs of the product they are selling

Nice specs with a good price. Personally, I won't touch another Lenovo as my last one lasted barely 2 years.
Agreed, my lasted 14months before the screen no longer worked and i spent $1100 on yoga.

That's why I buy Costco - 4 yr warranty with the Costco / Citibank VISA.

Can somebody tell me if the ideapad from a few days ago has a way to (without HDMI) connect wirelessly to another monitor or tv without the response lag when using windows way of connecting to multiple displays?

Get a Belkin wireless adapter and Windows PC will be able to mirror or extend the screen.

If only that was the worst manufacturers did. To be honest, most normies don't bother upgrading RAM, and RAM is pretty unlikely to "go bad". I can somewhat get soldering RAM, as long as you're soldering 8GB+. In exchange, you get a marginally cheaper, more short-term reliable device (no bad/loose connections).

On the other hand, what REALLY bugs me is sealing batteries behind adhered screens, where you've got a 50-50 chance of destroying or damaging the device just to get to it. And ALL batteries are consumables that will go bad after a few years. Or soldering a hard drive, leaving your data stuck on the device if you can't get the unit to boot.

So yeah, the RAM issue kind of pales in comparison with all the other BS manufacturers put out, and consumers are more than happy to put up with. The times they are a changin' I suppose - and I'm not sure it's for the better.

One reason, so they can sell more expensive models. Upgraded ram is usually bought from 3rd parties so the OEM doesnt make money on future upgrades. Same reason Apple and now others don't offer microsd slots on their phones
