Great option for a cheap location tracking SIM. I often have to park my car in unsafe & high crime locations. My car has been towed twice (illegally!) while it was legally parked on city streets (shady tow company!), and several car thefts are reported in these areas every month. I have an old iPhone SE that I hook to a USB battery pack and put both in the trunk under the spare tire cover. I can open Find my IPhone on my main phone and see that my car is still where I left it, or where it has gone if stolen or towed. Runs about 10 days on the external battery pack, and uses minimal data. This type of SIM is perfect.
I have this plan. Here are the add-on costs:

$10.00 - 1000 Minutes Top Up
$2.00 - 100 Minutes Top Up
$5.00 - 250 Minutes Top Up
$10.00 - International Add On Credits

$5.00 - 250 Messages Top Up
$2.00 - 100 Messages Top Up

$10.00 - 1 GB Data Top Up
$15.00 - 2 GB Data Top Up
$2.00 - 100 MB Data Top Up
$5.00 - 250 MB Data Top Up
Any phone is an emergency phone, they all dial 911.

Good option if you have an old Sprint CDMA phone to bring back to life for the heck of it. Last year you can.
Is the Sprint CDMA network going to be around for another 12 months? Is there a published end date yet?

Just FYI, Red Pocket can be screwy with their system and you end up getting set up as a monthly plan instead of annual. I tried to have it 'fixed' by customer service last month, but again this month I'm getting warning texts that my plan is ending and I need to refill... despite only being at the end of month two of twelve.

This isn't a deal. Everyday price. Most certainly not new. Definitely not front page material...

This is off topic, but hopefully a phone techie can answer my question. I only follow SlickDeals so don't know where else to ask. A few months ago I sold my Samsung A10e phone on ebay---I removed the SIM and reset it to factory. Is there a way the buyer can retrieve my deleted texts/photos? I saw on ebay there's something they can use to access deleted info which scares me (nothing illegal, just very private). The buyer deleted his new account shortly after purchase but I saved his name and address. Someone with knowledge please respond---can send thru email if you want so this isn't a thread-steal.

Did you have it saved on an SD card or on the phone storage?

There's 911 emergencies and there's Mommy/Daddy... emergencies. We use this plan for our kids "emergency" phone. Has worked well so far.

If you don't need the data and don't mind using TextNow app for calls and texts I found a better option. Textnow website has a $10 SIM card with unlimited calls and texts over 4G LTE. The catch is that you MUST use the Textnow app on your smartphone and the data must be purchased separately. Makes for a good emergency or backup cell phone or a phone for the kids to call and text with as all the calls and texts are unlimited and free. Of course you'd need a compatible smartphone to use the SIM and that is not included for $10. The free part is sponsored by advertisements inside the TextNow app which is required to make the calls and texts.

Data stops at 200mb.

They offer data add options if you run out. $2 for 100mb or $5 for 250mb

The VOIP services don't have access to short codes. It prevents account verification for services that SMS you when you sign up/log in. Some companies only have sms based 2FA. I once had this problem with Republic Wireless, but it has since been fixed.

Yes, there are free programs that recover deleted files. Deleting files doesn't actually "shred" them. It just puts them into a hidden folder and marks them okay to overwrite. Even overwriting the files may fail to completely hide your tracks. Physically destroying the drive is considered the most reliable method to eliminate data. It's unknown what percentage of used phone buyers are nefarious. Wink

Are they shutting down the sprint network at the end of the year? Redpocket says that they are not. They would say that tho...
It's already being shut down, dismantled so that the spectrum can be reallocated. So, some areas are probably experiencing coverage issues that worked fine before. These phone companies have delayed pulling the plug completely on those old networks, so who knows.

I'm using Tello using their Sprint MVNO service. They've been converting over their Sprint MVNO customers to the T-Mobile network, sending out GSM SIMS for compatible phones. They didn't give a hard set date when they are pulling the plug for their Sprint customers, but they said that they would support Sprint service through at least June and would give notice in advance. My phone was an old Sprint only phone, so I just bought a GSM unlocked phone and ordered my free GSM SIM from Tello just days ago to get off the Sprint network now rather than waiting to be forced off. So, I'll see how the T-Mobile performance is soon. I also have prepaid Verizon on a different phone.
