They just came out with a new Mac OS version. There is a tweet that came out today that says that the Mac OS version is "free for current iPad and iPhone customers", $3.99 for others.

This is such a great app. I first bought it when I started college to take notes and it worked better than all the alternatives that I tried. Now I am a teacher and I am using this app more than ever. I am able to add PDFs and share my screen as I work on it with the students. This better than any other app that I have tried. Highly recommend it.

Why would I use this over the latest version of iOS and macOS Notes? Primary selling point seems be audio recordings and nicer UI.

Apps looks great but I find anytime I end up leaving the native apps, I end up regretting it as they integrations stop working and/or the developers change their model pricing model in updates.

To be clear the price is great, I just don't understand what it does so much better and why it's worth switching.

If I buy this, does it work on both ipad and mac os (or do I have to buy two copies)? Dont have any apple products but getting an ipad in the future (and probably going to try hackentosh just to sync notability to my desktop).

For me, the ability to search hand written text was big. I believe I had to pay an additional $2 in app purchase iirc.

Best things about this app are that you can search handwritten text and the auto backup to iCloud, google drive, etc. The MacOS app is doodoo though.
