modes or styles? are we talking about how many modes the brush can do or how many styles of the brushes included?

That's what it says on each sales page. I wanted both tooth brushes to have the same features so I choose the Costco deal. You should read the details and decide whats right for you.

Brushing modes. Mine has intense, sensitive, gum care, standard, and some others. I just use the intense and tongue mode

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

As a dentist, please use this with a soft bristle toothbrush. Don't brush aggressively and don't use a medium bristle. Over time it will lead to recession and increased tooth/root sensitivity

Would you mind clarifying what the tongue mode actually does? Are you supposed to make contact with the bristles or the back of the brush head?

Thanks OP! Was time to upgrade after getting the Genius 2+ years ago. Got it on a SD for about $65. This is a solid deal! My old one still works so might use it a few more months before retiring. Giving the misses the bronze for Christmas.

With the bristles. The different brush modes all have different oscillation and pulsation counts.

Here is a quick video that explains all modes

Costco has oral-b smartclean 360 2 pack for $65 once in awhile. Is it worth the $35 to get the Genius?

Just my 0.02c. There is a good reason why these and costco ones do not have a model number on them....
I have one what I bought from Walmart (6000), 2 from Costco (numberless, last year) and one sold from P&G through dentist office (numberless). All of then look identical.
The worst- from a dentist - weak oscillations and shorter battery life.
Costco ones - in the middle. Best from a wally.
They do not number (model) inferior products for a reason to separate them from better ones. It is like Banana Republic vs BR Factory. Brand name the same - quality is not.
Now I will never buy them unnumbered.
I guess it might not be critical for some folks, but for me it is as I see these differences every single day with my family.

I just got this and honest review, it's pretty loud.
I've had sonicare toothbrush for years and it was much quieter but the reason I switched was because oralb toothbrushes move in a circular motion versus just the up and down motion of my old sonicare toothbrush.
Turns out, my sonicare wrecked my gums. I now have receding gums due to years or "hard brushing" with my electric toothbrush. Another thing I like about this oralb toothbrush is that there's an indicator to tell you if you're brushing too hard or too soft. Great deal on a good toothbrush

Picked this up earlier from Costco. They work just fine and fit all the tips we have from previous Oral-B devices. After seeing this deal, I ordered a set with the $20 off coupon (added extra tips) and 10% CB. The black handle (from the Costco set) looks just goofy with the white brush heads. Rose gold will go to my wife, and I'll use the silver. I'm fine with not having the tongue mode Smilie

We really need to know what model this is in order to assess how good of a deal it is. For instance, the 5000 and the 7000 have a nickel–metal hydride battery and the 6000 has a lithium-Ion battery. Some models have better motors than others with higher oscillations and pulsations which makes for more effective cleaning. The battery in my Oral B 7000 started to become unusable this weekend (after seven years of use). I was about to order an Oral B 5000 or 6000 as a replacement when I saw this post. Without knowing which model this promotion is for, and since I need to purchase one now, I may pay a possibly higher price for an individual Oral B whose model number and specs I know for sure. Can anyone clarify this? By the way, the Oral B io series is improved in just about every way for those who wish to pay the higher price for it (along with different and more expensive replacement brushes).

Addition: the fact that these have a "Customizable Smart Ring" suggests that they could be a 6000 and not a 5000 or 7000. The Tongue Cleaning mode on the Rose-Gold handle suggests that it could be an 8000, 9600, or higher. One guess is that the silver handle one is a 6000 and the rose-gold handle one is an 8000. Can anyone who already purchased this please clarify more particular specs?

Those are currently on clearance in some Walmart's for less then 90(single brush). My walmart had some for 40 dollars last week. Not the 2 pack though.
Can you please share the Walmart link. Thanks
