I did the same. I personally would wait. There are too many variables to consider to make this worth it:
- filter might last longer than indicated due to my smaller room sizes, less frequent use, etc.
- the machine might break before then
- I might not remember that I have bought these extra filters 2 years from now
- Saving $10 over the span of 2 years of not using it is not exactly worth it. If it's for immediate use, I'd jump on it right away.
No, the C535 uses a different filter which is larger so these will not work on a 535.
Yeah, I don't trust Amazon for stuff like this. Too easy to make knock-offs and sell them for a too-good-to-be-true price

I suppose it depends on what you are trying to filter. Even knock offs should grab dust and dander, my primary concerns. I can't see buying extra kits when there are so many reports of these dying before they exhaust their Included two year supply.
I've had a Winix filter running almost every day for 3 years now. It's just a fancy fan really not too much to go wrong.

Awww, does the poor guy not have the $55/year membership?

Good lord, just buy it. That's less than a Taco Bell meal per month.

These have been generally pretty well reviewed from what I've seen. That said, simple cheap and no worries of what you mentioned above, people report good results with DIY box fan filters for inexpensive.
Thanks, I will try C545 for now and see how it works;

Use wet and dry rigid vacuum from HD and suck the accumulated dirts off the filter then wash it with spray hose and sun-dry it. I have not bought a replacement filter since.

You can just reuse your current filter if you wash and dry it. Put it in a basin with a small amount of laundry detergent. Shake it around gently then let it sit for about 30 minutes. Empty the water, then repeat without the laundry detergent to rinse the filter. After that, just let the filter dry and then reinstall it.

You are guessing most people are scamming tool bags? Projection?
Nope but costco employee told me so just the other day when I bought them. But with them being 99$ with two years of filters, probably more cost effective to buy the bundle and at least sell it after you've used up filters. Only $30 for the purifier itself.

Yes, it is just a fancy fan, but unfortunately both my C535 and C545 have developed rather annoying sounds while running. The C535 sounds like a bearing or something going bad in the fan motor (kind of a soft rumbling/scraping noise). The C545 sounds like the fan has come out of balance and makes a low pitch wobbly noise on lower speeds. It is hard to describe the noises, but they are annoying.

That totally depends on living situation, time, and proximity to a Costco.

Yeah eventually these will start making unwanted noises. This is why Costco is the way to go. You can return them when this happens.

Another user found that ''Winix 113050 Filter C'' also fits the c545.
I second this. I have the c545 and couldn't find the filters anywhere. Called the Winix help desk, and they told me to just get the 113050, and it worked.

The outermost filter is washable so wash it when it gets dirty and let it dry completely. The carbon filter can be changed once it's dirty. The innermost HEPA filter, if every month you take it out lightly tap on it so that most of the dirt and stuff fall off, you can go a lot longer than however long they recommend.

This is a good price for the official S filter. 3rd party ones on Amazon and Ebay are at around this price too.

Reminds me of the classic ink jet printer pricing model.

Sell the unit for cheap. Sell the consumables (ink or in this case the filters) for basically half the cost of a new unit.
