With the GE, you can't just press numbers. You have to first press "time cook". First I had to learn not to press numbers first. So to cook anything, I had to press 4 buttons. If I messed up, I had to press clear. On top of that, the keypad is not very responsive. Ugh, I'm getting angry just thinking about that microwave.

Most comparable, consumer level microwaves have some kind of express cook feature (that nobody uses, except maybe Popcorn), what was so different about the Whirlpool?

The deal is at Best Buy. I posted a HD link earlier for price comparison only and 22k reviews. The SD phone app is horrible. It was a pain to post properly. I just edited my OP using a laptop.

My new house came with a GE microwave and I got rid of it. I hate "express cook" with all of my soul, and just using the keypad in general sucks. It was a huge relief when I got the new whirlpool installed.

I need one soon as mine is on its last legs. Tempted to get something like this, but I'd really like to find a fairly basic one that doesn't have an obnoxiously loud vent fan. I use just the timer more than anything, vent fan for the stove far more than microwaving, and when I do use microwave I just punch in time and go, no fancy features ever get used. I'd love to have a quiet vent fan but don't want to spend $1k on one that's way overkill to get it. Any suggestions? Or is that just a unicorn thus should go ahead and get something like this.

I need one that circulates the air. My microwave doesn't vent outside. Any suggestions?

The microwave is good, but the fan is terrible at sucking in the air from the cooling. Just know these facts.

Overpriced garbage. Had a GE microwave in the house, lasted 5 years then it broke. The food won't warm up no matter what setting/power level I set it. Went to Target got a cheapo generic brand replacement 1.4 cu 1100 WATT for $99, 2 years in, no problem.

It sounds like you want a recirculating vent system. I think most microwaves have the ability to set up the fan to a recirculation mode. I know this one does, but check the installation manual to see if models you are interested in support recirculating the exhaust out the front.

Ahh, I guess I'm used to it (we have a GE now). I end up using the instant 30-second button a lot. Or if you press numbers 1-6, it's an instant number of minutes.

I wish there were more professional style microwaves that had instant 10/20/30+ second buttons.

For a while we had one with a jog-dial type of wheel on the front where you could dial in 10-second increments. Pretty amazing, super fast and intuitive, and surprisingly rare.

GE experience. I have had the same GE Profile microwave for approximately 20 years and it is still working well.

Our GE over the range microwave broke twice while in warranty. They fixed it for free. Then broke again after the warranty and had to trash it
