Actually TN panels are extremely fast by design. Until recently the fastest gaming monitors on the market were TN panels. The biggest drawbacks to TN panels are that they have terrible color and viewing angles when compared to IPS counterparts. Monitor OEMs also generally choose to put the lowest end components in TN monitors unless they're going for a high end gaming model.
