Serious question... other then features... what makes this better then the single burner portable cooktops that I see all the time for under $50. Seems if they both do the same thing. I'm sure im being ignorant but What's stopping someone from putting 4 of the little ones together vs spending 1k on a cooktop?

It's the wattage. The smaller ones are max 1800W 15A as they are 110v, but this one goes up to 3700W as it is 240v. If you are boiling a large pot of water for pasta, that can cut your time in half.

Also, you can't connect more than one portable induction stove on the same 110v outlet as most outlets are limited to 15amps/1800Watts (that's why you see hair dryers, microwaves, ovens limited to 1800Watts). So to hook up 4 stoves, you will need to plug them into four outlets that are all on different circuits (i.e., have separate lines running to the main panel with separate circuit breakers), which will be impossible to find in most kitchens, and pretty inconvenient even if you could.

240v lines in most homes can easily support 50amps, and that's why most high energy electric appliances like electric ranges and ovens, central air conditioners, water heaters, dryers, etc. need 240v.

Gaggenau, as well as Thermador, is owned by Bosch, and BSH is pretty much the standard in induction cooktops. Appliances Connection is a reputable website, and I've personally ordered thousands of dollars worth of appliances from them with no issue.

For someone looking for this specific type of appliance, this could be a very solid deal on a discontinued item. My concern is I see it listed in different spots as both a 30" and 36" cooktop - it appears like it should be a 36", but it's odd to see the discrepancy. I personally own a similar Bosch model of the 36" cooktop, and paid just a bit more than the $2299 price - nearly five years ago, in 2016.

Bosch makes a fantastic induction cooktop. I actually just got a NIT8669UC in-store clearance at Lowe's on Friday morning for my mother-in-law for $615. I love checking them regularly for appliance clearance deals cause they seem to have the best markdowns.

Thank you for sharing this. I am in the market. I had tried a Frigidaire Gallery 36" induction purchased from Amazon. The first two were damaged in shipping, the third seemed ok but after install I've noticed several burners aren't working correctly.

I actually had a Gaggenau gas cooktop in the home before we remodeled. They make some pretty awesome induction products, although very expensive.

Also agree about Lowes. We got lucky and found an open box Samsung 36" induction that was a returned special order. Unfortunately, it was damaged and we decided not to make it work.
