I guess "great" is relative to expectations but... it shouldn't be surprising that these generally aren't regarded as great subs compared to the really popular ones that are 3-4x this price. I haven't owned a fancier sub than this personally, but the collective wisdom of the internet seems to agree that really good sounding subs start in the RSL/SVS area which is pretty much $400 and up.

But in terms of my experience with these... I have the 10", and unless the similarly priced 12" is worlds different, it just doesn't always sound good. It will rattle the house fine and adds punch to movies but music is rarely clear and it definitely gets boomy and weird sounding with any volume through it. I have to leave it pretty low or it starts taking over whatever I'm listening to (and not in a good way).

But for $150? It's a great sub.

I love how some people say this sub is just okay, then go to recommend a $600 or more sub that's a lot better. Well, yeah, of course a sub way more will sound better, but in this price range this is probably about as good as it gets.

Looks like Klipsch might be turning over their subwoofer line or something? The 10 inch version of this is now showing as discontinued on their site and this is the price where I used to see the 10.

Not that these are great subs but you probably can't do much better for $150.

Would this be a good match for Klipsch RP 8000F front and RP504C center speakers? These front speakers itself provides good sub effect. This is in a dedicated media room of size 18 ft by13 ft. Thanks
I would get a higher end sub to match those. I got the monoprice and plan on getting the 8000f to pair with it.

I was going to get a Klipsch sub like this years ago but ended up getting the 12" Klipsch down firing sub from Best Buy. I think the one at Best Buy was cheaper. But I've had that thing for years now, and it is pretty powerful. On movies it will shake the whole house. My wife hates it, LOL.

This is a good deal on this sub.

Got it from Costco when it was this price. Sounded ok. Returned it and went with the R-112. Way cleaner and worth the extra $ for the $300 SD. Got a 2nd and it sounds unreal. Paired with the RP280fa, RP440c, and RP150 surrounds in similar sized room for reference.

How would this do paired with that $400 Jamo S809 5.0 kit? Is this is better then the Jamo S810 that's on sale?

This klipsch subwoofer versus the harman audio infinity reference sub R12 for $199?
Which is better?
I only heard the R12 i got in sale for $170
Its plenty powerful in the 30hz and above. I believe its 300w RMS power rating

I am positive R12 is a better sub than this klipsch

I'm in Costco.com checkout and they are charging me $17.85 in tax. I'm in NY and sales tax is 8.625 % and it should come out to $12.94 in tax. Anybody else notice this?
