I picked one up but also saw a Scott's 4 gallon backpack sprayer for only $7.50 (down from $75). I grabbed both since that might be nice for pesticides or some other purpose I don't want to contaminate this one with.

Picked one up in San Jose. It was on the top shelf above the newer models in garden. At least one left on the Montery Rd one

I'm hoping to buy the 2nd gen. I have first gen but the spray is inconsistent with things like roundup. Can't seem to get a good spray and sometimes 2 much comes out at the end when releasing.

Still way better than manual

Keep in mind this thing is heavy on your back when full. And I'm 6ft, 225lbs, and need to put it on my garbage pail in order to easily strap it on

There are 3 models for the 4 gallon sprayer. Make sure you pick the correct model (older version).

Thanks, OP! Repped.

Does anyone know if I use weed killer can you wash the tank and then use fertilizer, or is there a risk of weed killer residue staying in the tank.

Appreciate the help, and will rep.

Since the tank does not remove, it's a bit tougher to clean thoroughly, so I think it would be difficult to do, but if you rinse enough water through it, probably.

However, if you have spray fertilizer ONLY, that seems odd to me. I suppose you could spot spray liquid weed-feed, but that's a strange application. You typically use a hose-attached sprayer for fertilizer or weed-feed types over a large area. I would think fertilization over a small area is better done with direct watering in (like Miracle-Gro) or granules around the plants you wish to fertilize.

For me, a 4-gallon sprayer is best for spot spraying weed killer over a large area. Insecticide and cleaning I usually don't need more than a gallon or two, and would use a smaller, regular hand-pumped sprayer for these types of jobs.

So, I would leave this for whatever is your biggest job to do and use it for that in the future only, and use smaller, separate manual tanks for everything else.

Yes. I had to climb up to get it, they weren't labeled. Third or fourth aisle in the garden area, all the way down the aisle near the exterior of the building

Grabbed two this morning, one for me and one for my neighbor. Brickseek was accurate with 17 left in stock at Glastonbury, CT store. Some were on the bottom shelf and more up top.

I tried using the phone menu by calling the store, saying "inventory" and entered the SKU and it also said 17 in stock but at the $149 price, in store it was it was labeled $74 and rang up at the clearance price.

I picked up one last night. I'm glad the store stays open late Friday and Saturday. There were non on the floor anywhere in the store they were all on the top shelf in the isle with the other sprayers. Most of them were still shrink wrapped on a pallet. I had to find someone to take one down for me. I love going into a store armed with 'Slickdeals' intelligence and leaving with a great bargain that sometimes the employees don't even know about yet.

Went to HD asked them about the item and showed 3 in stock but they couldn't locate even 1. The manager of was very apologetic and said I can pickup the newer version 1005805329 and he will override the price and give me $50 off. Of course I snapped the deal. This is my first such experience at HD

Out of curiosity, what do you use for ticks? I just moved to a heavily wooded area that's lousy with ticks.
Use Talstar if you want to spray something. It kills mosquitoes and ticks. In fact, it kills everything! And also any granules that contain Bifenthrin. Walmart carries Eliminator granules, which is what I use. I get it on clearance at the end of every summer season. You spread it around before it rains. The water activates it. Lasts about a month or two. I use both the spray and granules and it takes care of everything. Makes a world of difference.
