Have an aside question. My desktop doesnt have wifi capabilities and its in a different room than the router. Would require a bunch of wire running to get the modem there and hardline into it. I feel like buying a third satellite would be a waste as it would be 40-50 feet away from one and then nothing upstairs. If i like to stream and game etc what would be the most effective method to keep my speeds up. Get a wifi card or something or buy another satellite. (Tried a usb wifi adapter and it lagged like crazy)
you should look into moca adapters. My setup has the main orbi router in the garage with my fios ONT. Connected to the Orbi is a moca adapter connected to the coax line. Then I have two more moca adapter on the second floor in two rooms connected to the coax lines. Then you just connect an ethernet cable from the moca adapter in your room to your PC and you're good. This worked way better than powerline for my situation.

I have a 6 year old Netgear Nighthawk R8000, that I am planning to retire soon. It's a darn good router, but their firmware releases frequently break something. After getting burnt a few times, I rolled back to an older stable version 2.5 yrs ago and disabled firmware updates. Also, they support Disney Circle for parental controls, but you need to pay $5 per month or $10 month for proper parental control functionality. Also, disney circle app isn't that great.

I believe they continue to support only Disney circle for parental controls in their latest routers. So, I am inclined to give TP-Link a try. I am waiting because I don't want to spend $200+ yet!
Koolshare is supposedly better than stable for your model. It's a asuswrt merlin port to netgear R8000. Although it's made in China, like your router.

Hardware:
-TP-Link system has more bandwidth capacity since its a 5700 compared to the 4200.
-TP-Link has 2.5Gbps ports for people who want to take advantage and build a 2.5Gbps network. Both devices are identical hardware on the TP-Link.
-Netgear has 4 ports on the main router all 1Gbps and 2 on the satellite so you do get a few extra ports on the Netgear.
-Both have 6 internal antennas, but I know TP-Link has FEM/Smart antenna designs for two of their 6, as for Netgear there is no mention. Which should translate to better connections and range.

Software:
-TP-Link has better parental controls provided free of charge vs Netgear requiring you pay extra for them.
-TP-Link comes with home shield which is free antivirus and spyware protection for your whole network, Netgear requires an additional charge for it.

I am sure there are a few more reasons, but thats just off the top of my head.
Orbi is in a class of its own because of the dedicated backhaul band. TP Link and others will degrade performance as more devices add more chatter on the main bands

I just got this Orbi & I'm just in wow mode. I have Centurylink 1gb Fiber internet & the speeds with this orbi is like nothing I have ever had. Every YouTube video I click loads up like if I was just flipping channels on my TV that's how fast it loads no loading time it starts playing in 4K right away for me. I play COD on my PS5 & Xbox series X & I haven't had no issues at all great connection the whole time.

If your looking for pure speed, the AX5700 is better on almost all counts but one, as has been tested and proven in professional reviews. Thanks to the higher performing 5ghz band and 160Mhz channel which the Orbi does not have, so you would be incorrect. A 2x2 wifi 6 client at the router within 10 feet can hit up to 1400Mbps on the TP-Link vs Orbis 875Mbps. The AX5700 is better in almost all scenarios except when comparing the two satillites units within 10 feet the orbi has a very slight advantage in speed but it quickly falls to the AX5700 as the distance goes past 10ft.

TP-Link uses a dynamic wireless back haul and it works very well, as has been proven on the M9+ which is a crowd favorite.

I did update my OG post though cause I did not know the homeshield only includes the basic plan vs the premium.

A cool thing I did not know about the orbi though, you can set it up without the mobile app which is a huge plus to a lot of people.

Good price, but the TP-Link Deco AX5700 is better overall system for the same price from Costco. So unless your really like the Netgear brand, I would go with the AX5700, to get more for your money.
Ugh, I've got a tp-link system and the app is not good. Glitchy, non-responsive. Would not recommend.

Used the X60 version of the app, had no problems with it. I have not used the AX5700 but should be pretty similar.

For this orbi Netgear actually allows you to configure it through the web so its a cool change of pace.

Not sure if it's still true, but TP-link Deco vs Netgear Orbi, for me the deciding factor was that the guest network is NOT separate on Deco. So the guests can access all your internal stuff. Also it was heavily reliant on the cloud to configure. TP-Link shuts down it stops supporting the app, your router cant be configured. I know they added some local config options, but haven't bothered looking again.

What did you have before this and what WiFi speeds do you get on your devices?
