It's good for putting storage boxes underneath in small/narrow rooms. It works in railroad style apartments for instance.

Great for young kids. Storage/play area. Also not too high if they fall of the bed while sleeping.

Seen another brand on amazon for less before, @120-150. May be oos.

It won't be high quality wood but it is going to be solid wood. The idea that they would somehow make it cheaper by milling the lumber and then going through a very difficult/expensive process of hollowing it out makes zero sense

It means not made of wood chips plus adhesive like particle board etc. that cheap bookshelves etc are made from.

Thinking the same thing. A platform is better for storage, so I don't get it. A real platform bed with a desk and dresser below? Now that makes sense.
