I used one of these delivery services.....once. of course it was me and a lady friend partying/drinking etc... .....anyway $25 of food ended up being $55. And a tip too....... are these guys on drugs??
Restaurants pay close to 30% commission to Uber Eats on deliveries, and ~15% on pick-up orders, so you should only really use Uber Eats when they have promotions like these that are subsidized by investors.

I use Uber eats DoorDash Grubhub everyday and never happened like how you did, I selected $20-$25 dishes and the most I paid was $5 service fee + deliver fee that's it !!! I love deliver services !!!!

Well you are forgetting the plus 20% food cost but that's offset if you buy 20% off gift-cards. Plus my credit cards include free dashpass and whatnot so I literally don't pay anything more than dining in a restaurant. Sometimes less with promotions like these.
And in response to people saying "support the restaurant by ordering directly"..... why do you think the prices are 20% higher. Its the restaurant doing it to offset ubers fees. They make the same amount per order.
You don't HAVE to tip anything. You can put whatever dollar amount you want. I usually set it to $0.00 and then based on service I tip in cash.
I know a few people that do uber and doordash and I will say this whether you tip in cash or on the app just try to give one as they are risking their lives to make sure people are fed with stuff they like I don't want to preach but I did for a while and tips are a big part of the job. Plus the difficulty picking up for some places where the wait is long can be a pain.

Agreed. Tipping is crucial. I was just commenting to the person that said you HAD to tip 18% in the app that you can adjust the tip any way you like. I prefer giving cash tips anyways because it goes directly in the drivers pocket.
Tipping is a nonsense western culture.
Let employers raise cost of service and have them pay the fair amount to their employees. Tipping does not improve service.

Tipping offsets ripoff 30% ubereats steals from them. Also employers will never ever raise wages until they have too. Minimum wage hasn't changed in 12 years.

Depends where you are. I assume you're talking about federal since that hasn't been raised in 10+ years. In certain cities in California, it's now tied to CPI and increases every year.

Minimum wage goes up every year.
