This really isn't a Slick Deal from what I've seen as this seems to be the everyday price at Sam's. Regardless I bought it last week and I can say it is much more flimsy and cheaply made than the Keter 135 gallon box I bought last year from Home Depot. It's definitely a good price but lots of people seem to be complaining about the overall quality and the box top curling and getting deformed and I think it is a legitimate concern based on my own observations about the cheap quality of the materials used. On the bright side we had a torrential rainstorm the day I put it together and when I opened it the next day there was not a drop of water inside so hopefully it will maintain it's shape and the lid will remain flat and continue to be able to seal out water over time.

I sprayed all of my wicker patio furniture with 303 Protectant in hopes that it improves longevity under punishing Las Vegas summers.

It's supposed to be one of the better (clear) sprays out there to protect against sun damage.

I paid $99 for the 135 gallon last year. Also I just sat on my newly purchased 165 gallon box and while it does easily support my 200 pound body weight the plastic is noticeable more flimsy than the 135 gallon. It's NOT a bad product but I am concerned about how long it will last after a year or two sitting outside. Read the 1 star reviews on the website and then make your own decision on whether or not you are willing to take a chance on this.

I bought what seems to be the same model last year from Costco. Hold my pillows well and is well constructed. Would not recommend placing something heavy on it in the middle of the closed lid for an extended period. Otherwise it is working well for me.

Would painting it, at least the lid, improve its durabillity and sun resistance?

I have one on my front porch for firewood. I really like it. You would have no problem sitting on it...I have many time and it doesn't even flex with my weight...150lbs. Would buy again...but as FYI, plastic is very brittle when frozen. Found out the hard way, broke a few pieces off inside when tossing logs in.

Also, there are shocks inside to help hold up the lid...nice touch I think.

This is the regular price at Sams. The larger 230 gallon does go on sale for this price. Got 2, holding up perfect in Austin TX weather. Sit in the sun all day. I got both right around April, that seems to be when they have put them on sale the past 2 years.

That would depend on how heavy is your ... and how many.

I think the question is how much weight the lid can handle/made to handle.

I bought each of the $99 boxes from Costco (lifetime 150gal) and Sam's (Keter 165gal). Keter was slightly wider but not really noticeable. Keter seemed better constructed with medal/aluminum support.

Interesting product! I think I'd use a spray-based spar polyurethane instead, but that's only because i'm familliar with working with poloyurethanes. I might paint it to match my house first for extra protection.

I bought this last year and got exactly the same problem you mentioned. The box top sagged severely already. Small rodents can sneak in from the two sides!

I bought this same one (brown) last summer from Sam's club on sale for $80. Works great even in the sun where it's constantly 110° all summer here. No warping happened at all. But this definitely isn't a deal it's just in stock at regular price.

This is like frank's red hot. I put that ish on everything! I just recently did this on the exterior rubber parts of my car, patio furniture. Not sure how it'll be, but I also lightly coated the rubber gasket around my fridge/freezer, as the reviews seemed to indicate it fails way too soon (Whirlpool). hopefully this stuff can be wiped on every few years to keep the gasket from failing.
