After getting these sets he's able to put together other sets easier and with less frustration. I think it's helped him put together the 2 dimensional manuals to what the pieces really looks likes which he was originally struggling to do. All of ours are still put together and on display.
Bought the Starter Course for $47.99 at Target, and added the Mario Maker kit for $6.99, down from $9.99, to go over $50 to get the $10 gift card.

I don't think so
I've seen them do $10 off coupon or price decrease on sets that are $50+, but not directly a "$10 giftcard".
Some people then try to have Target PM the decreased Amazon price to try to "double dip" but thats YMMV
What makes this, other than Lego, better than just the Mario Playsets that seem to cost less? My kid is turning 6 and while he likes Lego, he likes Mario more.
Edit: Ok, I see this is a bit more interactive than the sets, but still unsure it's worth the price.

My son loves them too. Also on the spectrum.
Yeah, not $50 in value here for us, but glad to hear others are having more positive experiences with their kids.
Agreed 100%... I don't see this line lasting long, and in fact I'm only considering jumping on this deal so I can throw them in my attic because LEGO always leaps in value when it is discontinued. I'll probably pass, though, because I think there is much more supply than demand... Which is why we're seeing such a good sale on the starter pack.
