The wiz is one of the worst designed products I've ever used. Total POS. Couldn't spread anything. My electric toothbrush has a more powerful motor.
I have the Scott wiz spreader and it has literally never ever clogged on me. I don't even know how that is possible since it has a setting to change how much comes out. Are people putting wet stuff in it?

I have tons of ryobi tools and this seems cool but I worry the weight of even a 2ah battery would make this way heavier than the Scott. The batteries on the Scott seem to last long enough

At $40 this is 2x too expensive for me to bite. If it got down to $20 and didn't have design flaws, then is bite
Any idea how this compares to the Scotts Wizz spreader? I have that one and it clogs all the time.

Same, I ended up getting a proper push spreader, but it's nice to have a handheld for smaller applications.

Same here. Clogs up all the time. I don't like push spreaders much though

But do you know how good/bad this one is?

I have used the wizz for several years now. Picked up a few at walmart on clearance for $5 each. One is for lawn fertilizer, one is for salt in the winter, etc. Are they the best? No, but they are quite functional and do the smaller jobs at their locations.

Nope, I was just adding commentary on how truly horrible the wiz product is. I want to know as well. Home Depot seems to have pretty good reviews.

I have used this for several applications of lawn seeding. It has worked as expected, and has never clogged.

This one is better than the wizz but not much. Works great with tiny stuff but mine kept getting stuck with salt and the door trigger wouldn't always open right. I would not buy another

Was looking for a deal on this spreader! Thanks OP! I have the Scotts Wiz spreader as well and tried laying down some lawn fertilizer this past weekend only to have it stop working due to god knows what. At least with this and being a Ryobi user, I can ensure that the battery has enough juice for the application.

From the reviews, looks like it has a couple of design flaws. Specifically, there is a common problem with the 'flow gate' not opening properly or getting stuck. Also, there is no lock for the trigger (you must hold it down fully during operation). That sounds kind of annoying if you're using it for any length of time.
Wanted one, but I think I'll pass until they fix these issues.
