Just to clarify, this looks like it relates to purchases of their "instacart Express" plan, not any instacart order? The annual plan is $99 and monthly is $9.99, so effectively 3 months free if going monthly or ~30% off if buying an annual plan?

Yup... Chase had a similar benefit on the CSR last year, but that was up to $50 off so essentially 50% discount on the 1 year plan.

Today's deal for Instacart Express is a sweetener to cover the 10% service fee. (still have to pay a smaller service fee and tips--default is 5%)
There is currently a 2 month free trial for Instacart Express if you use Mastercard for membership payment. So this would give 2+3 = 5 months free from now, with the (50 off 250) x 2. This week Instacart is also giving some users 30% off up to 200 (maximum 60) Easter special. If you use the deals altogether it can make a very slick combo that could offset all the extra fees and even tips that Instacart adds to the service.

1. Sign up for the Mastercard 2 months deal on 4/2 (expires 6/2)
2. From 6/2 pay membership fees with Amex
3. Use up the 100 off 500 by 6/30
4. Instacart Express will last until 8/31 to take advantage of any potential deals.
At this time it may be best to pay with a credit card with grocery bonuses such as Chase Freedom Unlimited (1st year), Amex BCP (Blue Cash Preferred), Amex Gold...etc.
(Assuming using instacart for groceries, the merchant code could be different if used for Best Buy, to be verified.)
5. If desired maybe look for other Instacart Express deals by 8/31. Who knows. There could be new deals by then.
