I'm using an 11 year old Macbook Pro. There's not a Windows PC made that will last me 11 years so I consider them throw away computers. A year or three at most.
With Dell you can get the 10% coupon and combine with AMEX $100 off or 10% off plus cashback so pretty substantial discounts.

I hear you. My Dad does not want to learn a Mac so that's not an option. I had an HP Spectre x360 for 6 years and it has worked flawlessly until someone stepped on it and cracked the screen. It still works but we can't use the touchscreen. Had we not done that I bet I would have gotten 11 years out of it! I'm debating on getting a new machine myself in addition for my Dad and I'm debating between the Spectre, envy x360 and macbook air. All great machines.
I do love Macbook pro's myself but I like the touchscreen option which is why I went with the spectre 6 years ago. It's a nice machine for travel on a plane too.

I also forgot to respond to your link to the Best Buy machine. That would be 100% perfect but it shows as unavailable near me except for a display model 1 hour away (and no way I would buy that even if they would sell it).

"There's not a Windows PC made that will last me 11 years so I consider them throw away computers. A year or three at most" You seriously must be a Gorilla!!
Comments like this are not helpful to people who are interested in learning, IMHO. While I don't care for DELL, my last laptop running Windows 7 lasted in excess of 10 years.

I bought the Envy X360 13" AMD 4700 model around Black Friday. I love it. I think the 13" size is perfect. It's small (and light) enough to use as a tablet and the size is perfect for portability. If you want a "workstation", you simply get a docking station and connect multiple monitors (which I have done). This has been my first 13" laptop size because I've always had 15" or 17" sizes before. I can say with certainty that I won't go back to a larger size.
Note the built in privacy screen on this model. I tried to buy this the last time it was one sale and I couldn't keep it because of the screen. The main issue is because of the parallax like layer that is always under the glass, even when you turn off the privacy screen you will still have to deal with much more narrow viewing angles than other IPS screens. For me (and ymmv since I know not everyone is as sensitive as I am and maybe I had a defective one) if I wasn't looking dead on at the screen it looked like there was a vignette effect where the middle was super bright while the outer third of the screen was was dimmer. Other than the screen issue, the laptop is absolutely great imho. If the screen won't be an issue (I recommend checking it out in store) I would say this price is perfect.

This is the only one on sale I believe. And it has lesser specs.
But it is 15 inches. Not available everywhere since it's a closeout.

I was eyeing up the cheapest Dell 15 inch 2 in 1 and adding some RAM: https://www.dell.com/en-us/member...27506e
