Before you ignore this and decide to do it yourself price out a new filter and full synthetic oil for your vehicle. You will exceed $25. And make an appointment to save wait times

Last time I went to valvoline they said $100 for full synthetic. I drove right out the door.
Presuming you have the tools and time.

Admittedly, I'm DIY and look for <$20 for Full Syn + filter deals. Granted I also just spent 6+ hrs changing gaskets to fix a coolant leak. Most people don't want to crawl under a car to save $30. I respect that.
I've changed my own oil 150+ times....yes, I've driven close to 1M miles. But I currently live in an apartment and wife's new car is under warranty. So much easier and traceable for warranty to have someone else do it.

Same here in SoCal. Was overdue and one was across the street from where I was so convenience forced me to pay $100 for a 6 qt full syn change at Valvoline.

People saying it's $50 for full syn? Maybe anywhere else in the country but not in California. Prices everywhere are $80 or more for 5 qt change.
Yep and gas is $5 a gallon lol

Yeah, I was just there on Saturday, and that's an accurate price for full synthetic. I did not get it, even with the $25 off coupon. Fortunately I had a 50% off conventional oil coupon with me, so I used that. Their normal price for conventional oil was $50.
That's interesting. $100 is above what a dealer charges in most cases where I am. Might be a good idea to call ahead if anyone plans to use this coupon and see what the normal price is. Doesn't hurt to see what the dealer charges and see if they're running any specials too. My Toyota dealer is running 15% off now and has been for a while during Covid.

Ultimate oil change deal hack, use this coupon for $25 off at Valvoline AND bring your own oil (most places will let you do this, call ahead) AND use the the Mobile 1 rebate deal from Walmart to get another $10-15 off the oil. Sorry if others have mentioned already, but love this opportunity to stack it!

I used to work at a Valvoline. All they care about is getting a certain amount of money from each customer. Us employees could be written up for not having a high enough ticket sales. If you can, change your own oil. If you go to a Valvoline, just be aware that their goal is to upsell everything.

You're right. The last time I got full synthetic at a dealer, it was $75, a that was before their coupon was applied. Plus, they threw in an xxx-point inspection and a car wash.

Here's where I found the 50% off conventional oil change coupon:

Ill just do it myself for $30.
I have a ramp and it takes me like 30mi to an hour to get it done. The 1hr is for the oil to fully drain out of the car.
Um, if it takes 1 hour for oil drain, how did Valvoline does it for 10 min?!??

Yep. They take advantage of people wanting to save a bit of time from the other places. Walmart is fine if you have to the time.

Bought 5qts of synthetic oil and a filter for my car since I have been doing my own changes for about 50 years. I couldn't fit under my new mazda3 and had a heck of a time finding the filter.
Gave up and went to Valvoline quick change place. I wanted regular motor oil because the synthetic they had was too expensive. Asked what the price would be if they used the oil I brought. Manager got real hateful and they did it for $30 and I supplied the filter.
Never again will I go there. Devised ramps and now do it myself for < 25 dollars.

Called my local Valvoline store and a full synthetic is $80 so still $55 with coupon. My local mechanic is $45 and I trust him more than Valvoline. Even so, thumbs up and repped for an oil change deal. I wish there were more of these on SD.

They get you in there and really try to squeeze you.
I will never go back.

I had a couple instances of filters not actually being replaced, overfilling, underfilling at different shops.
Got fed up and installed Fumoto oil drain valves on all my vehicles. Makes draining a breeze and much less messy. Also started teaching my son how to diy oil changes when he was 12 (16 now). No problems since!

Nobody is as cool as this guy

Can you not imagine being able to make an appoint and doing tasks/work on your handheld computer while you wait a minute either? Might wanna get that imagination looked at

Also let's see you fund your self synthetic change and new filter at $25

Peace

you would know almost immediately if the oil was not fully changed. Also if the oil filter wasn't changed. The dirty oil that remains from not changing the filter, or, not completely draining the oil system, will darken the oil immediately. If you have clear, light colored oil in the dipstick they drained it all. Compare new oil from a bottle to the oil in your car, on a white paper towel. They should match.
