Just comparing scratch resistance, it's worth noting that the Hardlex is substantially better than standard mineral glass.

Mineral glass is about a 5 on the Mohs scale, Hardlex is around an 8. A sapphire watch crystal would be about a 9 and diamond is a 10.

Also, supposedly these Seiko 5 Divers have a lot of overlap with the more popular Seiko mod parts, so it should be possible to swap in an aftermarket sapphire crystal if this hardlex ever gets too banged up.
I already have two basic Tissots. I really don't need this but damn do I want it.
Excellent as a poor man's seamaster, a general beater watch

Nothing to say on misaligned captain willards that costs $1000? You think they make a ton of those where you would see more people complaining about qc, especially for $1000? Take a look at seiko forums and you will see this qc issue as a meme. Those thousands of amazon reviews are mostly for non dive watches. No bezel or separate chapter ring, no misalignment. Want to prove otherwise? How about a link to a dive watch with thousands of reviews.
Ummm. Go to this Amazon link where one types "Seiko 5 diver". I know it isn't a diver certified watch but it still has a bezel and chapter ring.

What do we see when we add up all the review scores? Seiko 5 with the newer logo dive style watches are getting a 4.5 out of 5 score. Well over 1000 reviews when you look at the various Seiko 5 diver style watches combined.

Willard? This thread is for a Seiko 5. We don't know what percentage of Willard has misalignments. What percentage of Seiko 5 watches are showing obvious signs of misalignments? Name a percentage.

Misaligned bezel for someone with this watch? How?

Why can't one center your bezel at 12 o'clock? I counted 2 clicks with the bezel in between every second on the chapter ring of the Seiko 5. Very precise with 120 positions. It isn't 1 click between every second (60 positions) on the chapter ring where a possible bezel misalignment may happen and be noticable.... I don't see how anyone could talk about bezel misalignment with the Seiko 5 dive style watch when it is so precise and there is enough "wiggle room" in between the 2 clicks of the second to line it up perfectly too. It is also tight bezel so the bezel won't accidentally move. I don't see how it is possible to have a bezel misalignment when it is 2 clicks between every second of the chapter ring and it has little wiggle room too.... I can understand being bothered about a chapter misalignment or hour applied markers misaligned but I don't see how how this bezel can be misaligned with the 2 click in between every second (120 positions).

I got 2 clicks within my Samurai as well with a little wiggle room between the click too so it is perfectly aligned. The Samurai bezel is easier to turn the bezel.

With my Tag Heuer diver, I get 1 loud click in between every second on the chapter ring. Perfectly aligned.

As I've said before, if they skimp out on on qc for a $1000 model, they sure as hell skimped out for a $300 one. There's no published figures but for me it's 100% 2/2 on misalignments. I'm not the only one with the same experience.

Have you looked at some of the pictures for the 5 star reviews? You can see misaligned chapter rings lol. Amazon is an authorized seiko dealer so it's in their best interest to sell more seikos. We all know amazon reviews are all legit right?

When people like seiko collectors, watch reviewers, watch retailers (Marc from longislandwatch.com who have sold over a thousand seikos) talk about misalignment issues, I tend to listen. You know, people that have first hand experience handling hundreds if not thousands of watches.

I'm just letting people who might not be familiar with watches or seiko know of this issue. They can easily google it and come to their own conclusion.

So because you supposedly have 2 misaligned chapter rings with your 2 watches, you think 100% of the seiko watches have misalignment issues? That is absurd.... Now you think the 5 star ratings from customers have misaligned chapter rings or thinking Amazon purchased reviewers are bogus? Reaching. Saying there is an increase in misalignments from collectors and reviewers is one thing but to insinuate that there are 100% or very high percentage are misaligned is ridiculous and false. If Marc was selling so much junky misaligned Seiko watches, customers would stop buying them, return them and it would greatly hurt his business as Seiko is a great selling watch. As I said before, Amazon reviewers aren't afraid to point out an obvious flawed misaligned chapter ring or misaligned hour markers. They really didn't but some people will assume "all" the 4 and 5 star ratings have misalignment issues and assume "all" Willard watches have misalignment issues.... 100% misalignment issues? Nope. Not happening.
