That logic makes no sense. Why would you throw away the 2x4gb or 1x8gb 2666 that comes in the system? if you just want to have a 16gb kit hop on eBay/the local market and look for a matching stock stick and add it on. Or if you can't find one available, that probably means there's a market for these, so throw it up @ a buy it now of $40 bucks ($36 after eBay robs you in a month) or sell it locally for $30/$40. Then put that cash into a decent used 16gb kit which can easily be found for $50....remember any added component that Dell/HP/Lenovo etc add on in house is priced outlandishly. Most are also made in house lowering there resale value and finally... a new system for $540 with a decent cpu and a great 1080p high 60+/1440p high around 60 gpu is a deal that should be jumped on as this nonsense stock shortage/price hikes have no end in sight...rant over
16gb being the "bare minimum" is simply not true unless your workload demands it. gaming does not.
Nah, I added extra 8 GB stick bought from Amazon for $50 or so. Right now I have 16 GB total and it's perfect. What I do is I play division 2 and when I am not gaming I park my character, alt tab and do other stuff, 20-30 chrome tabs sometimes when researching, watching YouTube, etc. 8 GB simply wasn't enough for me, trust me telling by experience. It may be okay for other doing not much but I needed it for my need. 8gb is enough is an old literature these days. Even raspberry pi ships with 8gb, here we are talking about gaming desktop. Btw, memory leak is rampant on ryzen cpus, Intel is unheard of.
What about emulation?
If you look at the GPU inside the case, it looks like a sound card, unlike anything I have seen for the GPU. But when I ran tests it showed as nvidia gpu. Funny thing is my GPU don't even have NVIDIA logo anywhere on the card, at first I thought I was duped but I was able to play division 2, and other 3D games at 1080 ultra for hours. FPS was around at 70-80 on my 144hz pixio monitor. I haven't tried emulation yet but I bet it'll run them fine. Just bought a launch box, and a windows 10 remote, this weekend I have a project am turning it into HTPC that will sit next to my other consoles for me to enjoy all retro and PC exclusives on my TV.
I'd upgrade the RAM, of course.
