1 yard = 27 cu. ft = approx. 14 bags
14 bags with this deal = $28
1 yard bulk delivered = $55
I can get it down to $46/yard if I order 4 yards but that's still way more expensive, and how long will that pile be blocking my driveway?

That mulch is FULL of weed seedlings what a mess it will be in a few months
I do not see this deal at tractor supply online
Do yourself a huge favor and spend a little more and get mulch delivered by the yard or even better, if you have a truck pick it up.
For those of you that only need a bag or two you're probably fine but the quality is seriously trash.
The triple shred breaks down even faster. I just got a pallet from TSC and at $2 per bag it was less than half the price of delivered mulch. Not quite as nice, but easier to spread and a way better value.
It was 5 days ago. They might be sold out already.

What are your reasons to prefer HD over Lowe's?
Cardboard. Lay it out. Wet it down good. Prevents weeds coming from the bottom. Throw the mulch over it. Should last about 3 years and decompose back in to organic matter. Keep the mulch going on top. The mulch keeps new weeds from the top.
I also used this mulch last year. Had no issues with it and nothing inside of it. Still in place and looks decent too. Going to top off this year again. I am ok with mulch breaking down, it makes the clay useable after a few years. In the garden areas where we've been using mulch for years, the soil is so nice.
I find bagged is easier to manipulate than having a pile sitting in your yard.

I was referring to this type of shovel.

Nope.
I have that shovel actually.... that exact shovel. Shovels are horrible for mulch unless you can scoop out of a flat, smooth-bottomed metal container like the bed of a truck. Mulch is not something you can shovel like snow or dirt - you're going to be killing yourself doing that. Using a fork is MUCH more efficient.
Of course, when it comes down to cleaning up an area - e.g. a tarp if you've dumped it on your lawn, or a driveway or whatnot, a big, light-ended shovel will work - even a snow shovel will work. for the bulk of the work you'll want a fork though., This guy shows how much better a fork will be [youtube.com].
