My Motorola G7 won't show caller info any more

I have a Motorola G7 power and for some time now it hasn't been showing any information when it rings. Phone rings but nothing shows up on the screen to tell me that there is even a call. If I swipe down from the top of the screen I can see a very small summary of the call that I can click to answer. Similarly I can't answer calls in bluetooth either - I can hear the call but no action results in answering the call.

I looked at the following page from Motorola but it didn't help:
https://support.motorola.com/us/en/products/cell-phones/moto-g-family/moto-g7/documents/MS140447
Some of the options were set on my phone the way described on that page, though greyed out.

It sounds like notifications for the 'phone' app has been turned off.

This video shows a few options. Note specifically when they are talking about notifications and where to turn them on/off.

I would say worst case if you've tried all the clearing cache/data/notifications stuff you can try a phone reset. That would be a last resort though.

Thank you for the reply. I had already tried those however and they made no difference. I cleared both the cache and data for the phone app and if anything the problem is slightly worse now, as it is even more difficult to find the notification of the incoming call than it was before; in fact nearly impossible to find and respond to it before the call times out and goes to voicemail.

Sorry to hear it's still being a problem. Did you verify that notifications are turned on for the phone app? Should be in a similar place at the 2 minute mark of the video I linked previously.

Can you answer a call if you open the phone app yourself (after unlocking and not looking for notifications)? What service are you using? I.E. T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, etc.

Have you checked if there are any updates needed for the phone (I.E. firmware/software updates)? Have you checked if there are any updates needed for the phone app?

Other ideas:
  1. Try an alternative dialer like Simple Dialer [google.com] or Drupe [google.com].
  2. Try a complete phone reset.

i think it's a carrier or reception issue that happens to me, i get a single ring or no ring and it goes to voicemail. which im ok with, 99% of my calls are spam
