Loosely intertwined. You can kind of think of it like how comicbooks work; they're all set in the same universe and you should read books about a particular character in order, but other than that you can pick and choose as you like.

Small Gods is a decent starting point. It doesn't depend on any previously established characters and can serve as a good intro to the world and the kind of story Pratchett liked to tell.

OMG, 41 books in this series!

Or is this a loosely intertwined series?

Hopefully intrepid Pratchett fans weren't asleep at the wheel when the awesome Humble Bundle deal had the entire Discworld series for $18 a few months back.

Convinced myself not to get it for some reason.

Started Guards! Guards! Recently and kind of dig it, but never realized how much I appreciate chapters. Also the physical copy I have has text too close to the edges for comfort.

My favorite of the standalone Discworld books. I've had to rebuy it multiple times because I loan it out and never get it back.

So Brutha is married then. It would explain the "small god" but "bossy as hell" part really well. šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

I think the only character Pratchett brought into Small Gods was a version of Dibbler.

One of Pratchetts best, and a good place to start the Discworld as its more or less standalone and this is after Pratchett really developed his style. Even Pratchett recommends skipping his first few Discworld novels if reading sequentially.
