What's not in this set:

The Last Hero (27)
Raising Steam (39)

Edit - this bundle has been updated to include The Shepherd's Crown (41), so it is now a 39-book bundle.
Just a tip if you have a decent library you could download Libby. Connect your library card to it and check out a lot of these. I know my local library has most of these.
Bought, stripped drm, and sent to Kindle in maybe about an hour or so for all books.

Not difficult to do at all.

Basically download calibre with dedrm plugin, download kobo desktop and download books from there. Use calibre to strip drm and send to kindle or whatever device.

A few guides out there on how to do it.

They can be fairly quick reads — they're honestly so good you kinda get sucked in and time goes crazy…

Yes, it can but I don't think you can do so without intentionally breaking the DRM which is technically a violation. Once you get the process in place it's probably not too bad to do them all, but if you've not done it before expect a chunk of time setting up all the tools you'll need to open them up.

I guess you need a Kobo tablet or their app to make this work well.

Kobo makes some nice looking eBook readers, but I wish they could get their pricing down near the sub $100 budget Android tablets. I bought that Walmart 7" Onn tablet last Black Friday for $30 and it works surprisingly well as a dedicated eBook reader as long as you keep it charged regularly and don't get in the bright sunlight.

It is better than the 8" Onn tablet, which I have, that has a metal chassis. The 7" seems to be all plastic and weighs probably half as much, has larger bezels so you aren't selecting text accidentally, and is overall easier to hold in one hand.

Not wild about it being tied to a Kobo account rather than as DRM-free EPUBs, but all other things being equal, Kobo books are much easier to strip the DRM from than Amazon or B&N. So, it could be worse.

If this was kindle it would be insta-buy. But looking at the method to "fix" these files... nah, I'm good.

When I got to Kobo, it included Shepherd's Crown and I have 39 books.

Also, The Last Hero is not generally available as an ebook due to being illustrated throughout.

Interesting — I definitely only got 38 books. Did you maybe happen to already own Shepherd's Crown on Kobo before this?

And yes, I agree on The Last Hero — I just wanted others to know what books were not included so they could be on the lookout to "complete" the set.

EDIT: They fixed this for me hours later. Ignore all this! Thanks Kobo krew!

Please don't be an idiot like me and only press "Claim" on one book before putting in the code. You need to MANUALLY press claim on EVERY book THEN put in the redemption code.

Yes - it says this at the top of the page. But it didn't load before the other elements so I scrolled down first.

And before you ask - I am trying to get Kobo support to help. They are, this far, not understanding what the problem is. They won't deactivate the code and remove my single claimed book. I asked them to elevate the complaint. Good luck to me. Worst case scenario I'll buy a second key - it's a really good deal.

If you're just getting started, I recommend Mort -> Reaper Man, Small Gods, or The Truth as first reads. Then you can actually look at reading orders. The problem is that the first two books are the worst of them, so it's better to skip them then come back.

I feel so left out and confused as I don't know what this is. Are these just ebooks that are only accessible via the Kobo unit? Or is there some more depth or some Japanese magic involved?
