This is a steal considering how much entertainment Pratchett's books have given me over the years.

I feel so left out and confused as I don't know what this is. Are these just ebooks that are only accessible via the Kobo unit? Or is there some more depth or some Japanese magic involved?
Yes. EBook like you'd find in the Kindle app, but only for the Kobo app. Just like a physical Kindle, you can use the app instead.

If you're just getting started, I recommend Mort -> Reaper Man, Small Gods, or The Truth as first reads. Then you can actually look at reading orders. The problem is that the first two books are the worst of them, so it's better to skip them then come back.
I just read through these last year, and found this post very helpful as a guide: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1492566

If I see a deal terry pratchett, I just wind up buying it. And putting most of the money to charity is just the cherry on top

This is the greatest book series ever made. Prachetts wit and intellect are rare and on full display. It's a unique ride that you don't want to end.

I guess you need a Kobo tablet or their app to make this work well.

Kobo makes some nice looking eBook readers, but I wish they could get their pricing down near the sub $100 budget Android tablets. I bought that Walmart 7" Onn tablet last Black Friday for $30 and it works surprisingly well as a dedicated eBook reader as long as you keep it charged regularly and don't get in the bright sunlight.

It is better than the 8" Onn tablet, which I have, that has a metal chassis. The 7" seems to be all plastic and weighs probably half as much, has larger bezels so you aren't selecting text accidentally, and is overall easier to hold in one hand.
They are really 2 different things. One is an e-reader that doesn't shine blue light in your eyes. One is an Android tablet.

I was really disappointed to see that the default allocation is less than $1 to the charity and a bunch to humble and the publisher. Obviously you can change this by using the "custom" allocation option. But it feels really gross for humble to advertise as "BUY THIS AND SUPPORT CHARITY" and then by default (which most people will do) it gives like 5% to charity.

Bought, stripped drm, and sent to Kindle in maybe about an hour or so for all books.

Not difficult to do at all.

Basically download calibre with dedrm plugin, download kobo desktop and download books from there. Use calibre to strip drm and send to kindle or whatever device.

A few guides out there on how to do it.

Interesting — I definitely only got 38 books. Did you maybe happen to already own Shepherd's Crown on Kobo before this?

And yes, I agree on The Last Hero — I just wanted others to know what books were not included so they could be on the lookout to "complete" the set.
Nope, brand new kobo account.

And your list was very helpful.

Plus you get all kinds of wisdom gems, many of which have been recognized back in the real world. Things like the Vimes Boot Theory.

When I got to Kobo, it included Shepherd's Crown and I have 39 books.

Also, The Last Hero is not generally available as an ebook due to being illustrated throughout.
I also got Shepherd's Crown. Also brand new kobo account.

It's stunning how quick and painless it is to get your own archival copies out of Kobo DRM-free using Calibre and the proper plugins. Getting the books from the deal, what with needing to press claim for each individual one, was a bigger PITA. Just make sure you get the up-to-date plugin set. Theres still a lot of links out there to a GitHub for them that's no longer updated. You should be getting v10+; the abandoned branch is still back at 7.

If anyone has ever played the Discworld 1 and 2 games on PC. They are a great addition to this! Eric Idle does the voice of Rincewind and the 2 games are fantastic! I read a few of the books, didn't realize there was this many!
