Good deal, especially if you are not very familiar with audio. Also, if you are considering a soundbar; which if you are, definitely get this Onkyo.
It's entry level and appears to have most of what you need, however, Onkyo is still probably including offensively weak cables in the box. Maybe consider budgeting for some better speaker wire, and a decent surge protector.
This is interesting: the subwoofer is passive (powered by the receiver like the speakers), but the receiver also has *2* subwoofer pre-outs! Means you can upgrade to better, even dual subwoofers later.
That's only when volume is cranked up. At reasonable levels it's 0.08% THD.
You may be right, but in the specs I highlighted above, the .08 THD is based on the OHM rating of the attached speakers, not volume level. 8 vs 6. No way around that.
If you're not sure, 10% THD means the overall Total Harmonic Distortion will be at 10%, so 10% of your audio will be distorted. Basically.
And let's be honest - Dolby Atmos created via DSP through 3" woofers? . . . please. If y'all need a simple system in your RV or young kid's room this is perfect.

Show me the HK receiver with 5.1 speakers included for $319. I'll wait.

Spec wise, this is mediocre at best. Sure you get a receiver and speakers but pay attention to how you wire it:
- 155 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD, 1 channel driven) x 5 ch, 125 W (6 ohms, 100 Hz, 10% THD) subwoofer (passive);
- 80 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 channels driven, FTC) x 5 ch, 80 W (8 ohms, 100 Hz, 0.08% THD, FTC) subwoofer (passive)
10% THD should not be accepted by anyone doing anything relating to watching movies. Under any circumstance. Ever.

10% THD is drugstore/gas station Christmas aisle quality. Crap electronic gifts 🎁(sampo,craig,colby,funtu,...)
They did have a lot of quality problems in the past. I don't know if they solved them.
