So much for not being able to buy it after March 31st 😂
They're not selling it widely anymore. Likely this is just getting rid of left over stock. People are trying to scalp it on Ebay.
Bet you there are more scalpers than demand.

The outrage is about the price. Straight ports don't deserve a AAA game $60 price tag. If this had been a $40 MSRP there wouldn't have been any complaints.
It's 3 games for the price of a full game. Look at it like each game being sold for $20 each. Or if you want to look at it objectively, they've sold ports of Mario 64 in the past for $10 so they're charging $25 for Sunshine and $25 for Galaxy. That's still way below your price of $40 for a single port.

And even if they haven't done anything to change the games, they're within their rights to sell it for whatever price they want. You don't own Mario, nor does Nintendo owe you anything. No one is getting tricked into buying this while being promised something different. We know exactly what we're paying for and most of us are okay with that. So either buy it for the asking price or move on.

Three games, some of which are half a century old. It doesn't take the same amount of work to hastily port old games to a new system that it does to develop brand new titles. The price simply isn't justifiable by any rational metric.

And I'm NOT buying it because it's overpriced. And I'm free to complain about it if I want to because this is a free country and Nintendo isn't above criticism for being greedy in cases like this.

Are you a developer? Do you know the ins and outs of the porting process? Because I've read into it and it's not as simple as most people think it is or else every game would have a port on every current console. I mean, why wouldn't they if it was so simple to do?

Maybe you should ask Sony why they couldn't simply port their library of PS3 games to PS4. They might give you a response about system architecture and explain to you the complexities of the porting process and how code works. Or ask PC players why to this day emulating N64 games is still a buggy mess. It's old software on modern devices so it should just work perfectly, right?

Nintendo's profit margin must be huge on this game since they did nothing much to enhance them, didnt add much of anything extra and are just running them through an emulator. Practically Zero dev costs. I'm convinced the Nintendo execs have some internal bet to see how many times they can sucker people into buying the same exact game.

then mix in Wii U port after port after port. It's kinda sad, really.

Microsoft makes it look pretty simple, tbh.

You're missing the point. I'm contrasting your 'this is gonna skyrocket' on 1st page to your dissertation for current sales price on last page. How far we've come...

One is independent from the other though. I'm justifying Nintendo's price against the claim that they're price gouging consumers here, while completely aware that the price will eventually start increasing in a few months when this actually becomes a collectable. At that point, Nintendo won't be the ones profiting from the increased price, it'll be whoever held on to a sealed copy.

But it seems like some people think that Nintendo is purposely limiting supply so they can themselves make a profit from scarcity in the future, which is false. They've made their money from the initial printing already and won't be making more from this product going forward.

The argument can be made that their announcement of limited supply caused an artificial demand of the product, but seeing how most retailers had plenty of stock just sitting there and are now trying to offload it, that's also a pretty weak argument.

Point is this WILL skyrocket in price, it's just a matter of time.

I think they made enough copies and that it will be a long time before the price jumps on this. I could be wrong of course.
i have a friend that is a video game reseller and he bought 3 pallets worth because he is banking on them going up in value he commonly holds games for years before reselling them
