Looks like a good deal to me. On the fence between w/ice maker and water or w/out... Can you give me some reasons why not get one with those two common features?

Space... the ice and water take up space that's otherwise just more capacity. Plus, it's something that can break.

That said, I will never buy one without thru the door ice and water. We drink a ton of water and use a lot of ice.

There is no doubt that the water and ice in the door is convenient. For our family though, most of our ice is used in large water containers such as yetis and hydroflasks. Even though our current fridge has ice in the door it's easier to get the ice into these containers by hand so they aren't using the dispenser. So in anticipation of getting a fridge without water in the door I spent $80 on Amazon and bought/installed a filter and water dispenser at the sink.

It sounds like right now your current fridge makes it for you and you put it in containers, is that right? So going forward how will you make the ice? I've already considered getting a separate ice maker and building it into a lower drawer, as well as setting up a more robust water filtration system and not using the built in fridge options.

Right now we just grab the ice by hand from the ice maker inside the freezer door (side by side fridge). The current plan with this new fridge will be the same, rely on the freezer ice maker for ice and use a scooper to handle it

We have this model and love it. The water dispenser is on the inside. We didn't want through the door ice, because they always freeze then melt and refreeze again. We just didn't want the headache. Plus the room it takes up.

We got ours in 2013, and have had no problems.

Never used the refrigerator filter. Not as good filter than others, too much trouble to change filter and one
more thing to remember

In the old house, I had a tee from the RO system, which serves the drinking faucet at sink, feeding a water tube going around inside cabinet to the refrigerator. In remodeling the new house, had the water tube going from wall to wall through the crawl space for a cleaner look

I am already fighting with Samsung 4-door fridge, I am not giving up. Tech came by to inspect and diagnostic and he was useless and I have already paid trip charges $80 + tax $8 and Samsung closed the ticket reason being I had asked for an inspection which is a total lie. I was annoyed and asked to open a new ticket. They are asking me another $80 trip charge which I am not willing to pay. I will call them on Monday..

How about the extended warranty?

Sorry to hear about your Samsung issues. Hopefully you can get them resolved soon. I didn't look into extended warranty when I bought this fridge.

From Costco's product page...it comes with a 2yr warranty. Costco Visa card will give you an extra year on top if I recall correctly.

My Whirlpool french door fridge (almost the same features) from 2010 finally gave out on us in 2020, so if it was up to me, I'd get another Whirlpool fridge and skip extended warranty. Just my 2cents.

Don't do it... Whirlpool refrigerators out of the Amana plant has sht quality! Not worth the headache even with Costco's 4 year warranty. They don't pay for spoiled food and no fridge days at a time. Read all Whirlpool fridge reviews at HD, Lowe's, and bestbuy.

I can vouch for the poor quality and nightmare service delays. Had a fairly new Kitchenaid fail but under warranty parts only and they wanted like $1500. Well a month later and several technician visits without any parts I was without a fridge so bought a new $3500 Whirlpool. 1.5 years later same exact issue and without a refrigerator again. The only problem is I think WHirlpool is the best out there as I know LG and Samsung have issues as well.

No refrigerator is free of issues it seems.

They don't make them like they used to. In the market for refrigerator and the bad reviews aren't locked to one manufacturer. LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool quality is lacking. Any other manufacturers worth checking out?
