They don't make them like they used to. In the market for refrigerator and the bad reviews aren't locked to one manufacturer. LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool quality is lacking. Any other manufacturers worth checking out?
Whereas before these generations took over, the industries were predicated on the principles of innovative engineering and craftsmanship.
My dad's generation enjoyed purchasing products that lasted 2+ decades easily. I still have my dad's airless sprayer from the early 90s made to last, a meat slicer from the 60s, old kirby vac, working amps, lol and we have his first car 69 gto, and another tri-five-era classic, you get the idea... we keep it til it's broke then we fix it because it used to be worth it. Now the parts are so expensive on purpose to incentivize a new product evolution and discard-repurchase habit.
I can't be the only one raised to lament what I'm seeing happen to good old ingenuity for the advancement of mankind turn into the "new rich" who couldn't give a damn about the massive landfills filling up with useless made-to-fail appliances and one-time-use products.
Human-Centered Economy > Profit-Centered Economy
(btw I'm 38. RIP to my dad (1938-2019) He made a part that held the camera that went to the moon on Apollo 11. And, not to bring identity politics into this little rant, but he was an immigrant from Mx. It should be said because THAT is what made America so diverse and grand. Even though he battled discrimination, racism, and lower wages than his friends at the Co. he outworked them and to his very old age they'd call and wish him well and pay their respects. It left quite an impression on them and me.)
Lastly, I'd like to say WHAT FRIDGE should I buy then?? It does seem like every single one is filled with bad reviews about the product or service! This is insane and what choice do we have but to buy it?? I might mess around in the garage and invent something better. I have an idea or two about making something last much much longer focusing on the efficiency and improved insulation, with an easy-to-repair cooler.
