Lenovo's list prices are absurd. Who would ever pay $2800 for an i-5 16GB soldered laptop?
Yeah these things are actually made of woven/machined carbon fiber and magnesium. Very strong, very sturdy for the weight and thin profile. And yes, people who think this is not worth it have not tried using a thinkpad. I've been using them for many years and my favorite was the T420s until I bought the X1 series and the unit is absolutely gorgeous and is made with super premium materials and build quality. Keyboard is legendary. Touchpad and the "nub" (there are other names, too) is thing of memes and legend. Lenovo is loved by enterprise i.t. for it's supreme durability, ruggedness and ease of maintenance/repair/support and just overall anti-idiot design. The keyboard even has a drain pan built in so it protects the internals from spills. I can go on and on why thinkpads aren't your normal laptop but I would be typing up an essay.
Pretty weak specs for 1400 imo.

You're really missing the point of these ultra portable laptops. It's about quality and battery life. If you want a gaming laptop (which IMO is stupid, needs to be plugged in all the time and the battery will die in no time) then sure there are plenty of overheating giant screen behemoths that make no practical sense.

You can get an hp spectre ultra portable with better battery life 10th gen i7 4k screen 16Gb ram for $1250. This is a ripoff.

Has anyone looked at the difference between i5 and i7? For those that shoot down the i5, remember that:

i5 = 1.6 / 1.7 Ghz (pro or non-pro) and 6MB Cache
i7 = 1.8 / 1.9 Ghz (pro or non-pro) and 8MB Cache

They are both quad-core, and hyperthreading. Note that H-Class products are different - i5-H are 6 core, and i7-H are 8 core.

At least this was the case last year. You can check out ark.intel.com

Lol This laptop was almost $3K, and it doesn't even have a dedicated video card.

I really want a 14" or 15" 16:10 Thinkpad, doesn't seem like any of the T series units have gone back to it yet. Any other options? I really don't need this level of slim and lacking ports.

edit: Looks like the ports are reasonable, I had an X1 Nano and that was rough.

Do you know of a specific Lenovo/Thinkpad model that had a 16:10 ratio screen? I would love to get my hands on one if there is. TIA

For those with the AMEX $100 Dell cash back (which add to card before), how is this compare to the new XPS 13 with 16:10 below?
https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/s...3e65c536aa
New XPS 13 Laptop i7-1185G7
16GB 4267MHz LPDDR4x Memory
512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
13.4" FHD+ (1920 x 1200) InfinityEdge Non-Touch Anti-Glare 500-Nit Display
2.64 lb
- Thunderbolt™ 4 [(DisplayPort / Power Delivery) (4 lanes of PCI Express Gen 3)]
- 3.5 mm Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack
- 2nd Thunderbolt™ 4 [(DisplayPort / power delivery) (4 lanes of PCI Express Gen 3)]
- MicroSD card reader
$1350 - $100 AMEX = $1250

Or
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...310cto235h

$1561 - $100 AMEX = $1461
with 13.4" OLED 3.5K (3456x2160) InfinityEdge Touch Anti-Reflective 400-Nit Display
Or downgrade to 13.4" FHD+ (1920 x 1200) InfinityEdge Non-Touch Anti-Glare 500-Nit Display
So $1208 - $100 AMEX = $1108

The Lenovo is a not a deal at all.

I just got the latest version of the Dell XPS 13 9310 with the following specs:

- 11th gen i7-1185G7
- 32GB RAM
- 1TB SSD
- 4K Touchscreen
- 2 yr warranty with 2 yr battery protection

Price: $1700 + tax. I had to haggle over the phone with Dell to get that price, but it was worth it.

X1 Nano, X13 and X13 Yoga are now 16:10. I had a Nano and loved the screen but the cramped keyboard and lack of ports was an issue. I gave up and bought one of these X1s soon after I posted, I think it's the best compromise for me.

The last truly great w/t/x was the 530 and 230. It's all slowly slid downhill from there. The newer P is nice but on the pricey side.
For those with EPP, Perks At Work, LifeMart, there are some good prices that keep coming every so often after discounts. I bought an AMD Ryzen 4750U P14s early March for under $950. I bought a 10th Gen i7 p15s for under $1K last week.

Even now, Lenovo Rewards are double, that you get $84 in rewards back for this X1 C9 which you can apply for future purchases for the regular consumer site. Through LifeMart, this same model is $1390 + taxes with $166 back in rewards.

For those complaining about specs / features to cost, I purchase about 10-15 laptops yearly for work and mostly X1 Yoga and some X1C/P/T/E/L or even the Tiny / Nano desktops at times based on where it's used, and overall it's been excellent. These are business grade computers, and those who are not ready to splurge on T/X1/X can go with the affordable E/L.

And yes, MSRP is way inflated and though Lenovo purchased Thinkpad series from IBM long back they have been able to manage the quality of these premium laptops well so far.

I was considering X1 Nano for my next laptop for work, but the lack of ports is making me choose X1C instead. I don't use tablet mode or a touchscreen, so X1C fits the use perfectly, and a 0.5lb increase in weight from Nano to X1C is worth the compromise for the extra ports you get.

This Lenovo seems like it might be a better deal, at least spec-wise:

https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ide...13492.html

+ i7
+4k touchscreen

All for $100 or so less vs the Lenovo in this thread.

Different categories and build - business (this) vs. consumer (Costco). The consumer variants of Lenovo have improved over the years.

We've had trouble sourcing the P and X compatible docking stations. I've had a couple ordered about a month ago and am still waiting the backorder to be filled.

Also, I've had complaints about the USBC/TB docks. The mechanical docks we previously used were very stable. The newer USBC/TB docks are not as reliable and have required Lenovo updates.
