I mainly use MS Edge browser with bunch of extensions(including ad-blocker)
I could add the thermostat, but couldn't checkout. Clicked checkout button, but no response.
Installed a clean Chrome browser. Without any chrome addon or extension, I could checkout successfully.
EDIT: ordered a second one(my house is multi-house which has two electric/gas meters) using incognito mode successfully.
I guess you don't need to install another browser.

Also, if you intend to add room sensors, the basic won't support it.
