PSA: For those in states where you're considering enrolling in the utility program to save money on the thermostat, make sure you carefully read the terms and conditions on those programs. For my state and local utility (and I assume other states and utility companies) the pricing model changes, in some cases drastically, by introducing different levels of peak pricing and sometimes even direct control over your thermostat. Whether it can save you money in the long-term is possible, but just be sure you fully understand what the program entails before jumping in with both feet.

No idea if anyone knows this or not, i havent been able to find any info

Do they require us to install the thermostat immediately?
I will be moving at the end of May, can i get it now and have it installed in the new home after i move
Have your legal advisor check the application fine print as most utilities will have an installation and rights to inspection clause that is not in the sign up description. So what is the problem with installing it, claim the rebate and then taking it with you when you move? Except maybe the rebate timing of 6 weeks which may be close for moving in May? Or maybe your new address can qualify for another rebate since you would be have a new customer address? I believe the rebate is tie to your service address and not per person. Just saying, no legal advise given here Peace

If you have PG&E AND have solar panels, you are not eligible for this rebate. Wah-wah... 🤷🏻 ♂️

Yes. If you are aware of a way to do this with brightridge that I could not find, please share.

Op, thank you for compiling this!

All, I have an android, if that matters. Nest vs ecobee?
I'd be most concerned with if you have a C wire. If no, I'd go nest. (I'm not an expert but have I changed mine over a couple times)

Android or IOS will work on both. For the same price model ecobee is easier to install and have a more user friendly interface then Nest, just my 2 cents. This is not legal advice and YMMV Peace

Where in DE? I am able to get to checkout through Energize DE, but I'm trying to make sure that "DPL" means Delmarva Power and Light before finishing the order..

The lower end Nest which are the ones with a rebate usually require a C wire also. You can get a C wire adapter from home depot which work great. Some higher end ecobee come with a C wire adapter that you have to install separately, without having to pull an actual wire.

Nope, just in east TN and sitting in the same boat. Nice to know I'm not alone.

Just talked to chat about what's going on and here was their answer, "In order to receive the instant rebate, you need to have electric heat with dominion energy". This is for VA. I don't have electric heat (thank god) so not eligible I guess.
Asking for a friend here; let's say the person A has a gas furnace and doesn't qualify, but Person B has electric heat. Could Person B purchase the Nest thermostat for Person A?
