You know, nobody is making you order these. If you don't want them, don't order them. Some people DO still send out cards. Not everyone has a computer or a smartphone to get mostly impersonal e-cards. For some people, like the elderly and those in the hospital or nursing homes and such, a card is one of the few things that makes there day, because it shows that someone took the time to let them know that they care.

I honestly didn't know people still used e-cards. Weren't they a fad for a whole couple of years?

Why wouldn't we just send a text with a gif or emoji? So much quicker.

Cards are personal notes. Take the time to handwrite one for someone you care about; even if your handwriting is that of a 3rd grader. (Like my 25yr old brother.)

What else can an average person do to tell a dying/stressed person we're thinking about them when we live far away?

Not much matters when you're dying. But, a few moments that person is reading that physical card in their hands and sees your handwriting of thoughts/prayers; are moments they understand you care about them greatly in this time of need.

Take TIME to care about them. You can show you care more about another, the more time you show you care about them. Sending a card in the mail is slower and old fashioned for a reason.

Cheer-up, those down votes are expression that we know you can do better!

Man with young kids, a good money saver tip is to buy a generic box of mixed/birthday cards from Amazon. Avoids the $20 kid gift accompanied by the rediculous $7 card. Quite the scam Hallmark has.
