I have this. Bought it last time it was on sale. One thing to note that if you plan to put these behind your tv, it does not have a USB plug. So you will have to turn it on manually. It's better to buy the ones that power on with USB ports for TV so they turn on automatically when the tv turns on.

Another option is to set up iftt with a smart tv but I haven't been able to figure that out. It's too time consuming lol

maybe plug it into a wifi-enabled plug and control it that way? i guess you would still need alexa/ifttt/google if you wanted to automate it tho

Totally a shill post.

These were something like $2 when I bought them on here, maybe a year or two ago. That's about all it was worth...definitely not $5, let alone these prices.

These prices are insanely overpriced.
The OP was paid by the seller to post this, then the seller paid 10+ other ppl to upvote it. I know this, since I used to get emailed by these sellers all the time, trying to get me to shill post/vote.

IFTTT is "IF This Then That" - an app that controls things when certain conditions are met.

Never thought about lining LED light strips along a hand rail up the stairs 🤔

100%. I also get these requests, often on a card in the package of garbage electronics that I bought already. If you want them, buy them, but this isn't a deal.

I've done it in a couple of homes to the basement. It's very useful. Not on the hand rails, but I stalled a molding strip about 12" above the steps. Wire LEDs to 12v supply on a smart plug. I use wyze so have it auto on for 5min if basement door open via wyze contact sensor, or if wyze motion sensor at base of stairs triggers. If all wyze system (plug, sensor, contact) then can do the rules in wyze without ifttt.

Not arguing the fact about the shill post - but do you have any links to these being sold for anything cheaper than this? I've never seen these sets less than about $15 and would love to buy some cheaper if you have any links.

Lol, if all you're trying to do is beat $15, you probably never used the search function on amzn & ebay before. Even the full price on the listing I bought in the past for $1.89 (screenshot attached) is currently at $9 full price.

You can search for them, just as easily as I can, so I won't be playing the role of Ask Jeeves today. That being said, I also recommend searching slickdeals (SD's search bar for old threads) so that you can see the past prices WAAAAY below $15.
[I seriously have no clue how you've never seen <$15, when ebay is <$5, 24/7....]

Just setup a slickdeals alert for when they go on promo sale. If not, ebay is usually pretty cheap, if you don't want to wait.

And yes I know my purchase was 2018, but there have been similar prices since then. It's simply that I never bothered to purchase again, since I have 5 that now sit in my closet, and these things are much crappier in person (it's fine if it's hidden from view, not so much if you can see them.)
