I had a guy show up for warranty work on a Dell with a long screwdriver like this and nothing else. I laughed. Then he used the screwdriver to loosen the one screw in the workstation that you can't reach except with a screwdriver like this and popped out the motherboard. He'd been burned by that screw often enough that it was the only screwdriver he ever brought.

Isn't magnetic screwdriver bad for mother boards? Was always told not to use them.

Don't poke at eproms or hard disks and it should be okay. Dell and apple put magnets in laptops and phones now. Parts used to be less robust. Make sure to ground yourself. Turn off computer. Turn off power strip. The box will be grounded via ground in plug. Touch metal on box before touching components. DO NOT pass around components between people.

No. Nothing in a computer will care about a magnet this weak, even a hard drive. You would need something orders or magnitude stronger to have the potential to do any damage.
