I bought a plate set from Macy's them and dropped a plate in the sink from not too high up and the plate broke. Another slid from the drying rack into the sink and also broke. Specifically this set

Yeah, I gotta give a second on that. I have several different dishwater sets and if I drop them, I kinda expect them to break. If they don't break, I'm happy. If they do break, I don't blame the seller because I'm clumsy.

If breakage is that big a deal, get melamine.

Don't get melamine. It's basically plastic and not microwave safe. I'd rather use a paper plate than plasticware for hot food.

Corelle all the way, esp if you want it to bounce. Those have fallen from my counter to tile floor a bunch, and only one time did it fall just right and shatter. Otherwise, not even a chip.
