I just bought the Canon - imageCLASS MF642Cdw Wireless Color All-In-One Laser Printer last week from a deal I saw on here. How does this compare to it?
I bought a refurb D570 from a deal posted last July. There was an error in the product description and Canon ended up comping everyone who bought the deal with an extra toner cartridge. The total price for the printer and two toner cartridges was $125 with free shipping.
After a year of light use, I think that was a decent deal. I bought the printer as a replacement for a seldom-used inkjet that kept getting clogged up. On the plus side, this thing has not given me any problems and always prints. It's nice to not have to remember to print weekly test sheets on an inkjet to avoid clogs. However, the print quality is not the best. It does not reproduce some fonts correctly and they can sometimes be hard to read. It's hard to describe but when you see it you know something is off. Changing quality settings does not help. I would not use this printer for professional documents.
For $150 and just one cartridge, I would pass on this deal.

This one is monochrome. I have the 642cdw and it's been great for the past month or so that I've had it.
It was $99 at Walmart few days ago. No duplex printing and no document feeder are the downsides.
But unlike brother printers the toners come with drums so no need to change drums. Third party toners can be $17 on ebay.
I've had this printer in my office for almost 2 years. It does have auto 2 sided printing. I print 10-20 pages a day. Have had no issues. I use generic toner cartridges from amazon and no problems. Can't say if this is a good price or not but I'm happy with this printer.
[BLack of support from Canon
[/B]
I have a Canon multifunction D480.
HW works fine but Canon has stopped support for drivers. e,g, scanning does not work in Windows 10. Canon has no updated drivers for D480 for Windows10. I have used it lightly for only few years. Now, some functions do not work because drivers are not updated.
It works fine on my old XP machine but not on WIn10. Compatibility mode does not work either on Win10. I have to junk it and buy another!
Third parties sell drivers (expensive) for D480 for Win10. Why can't Canon provide updated drivers for their products! Very disappointed with Canon.
My other HW e.g. Samsung printer works fine even after 10 years and several OS upgrades from XP to WIn10.
Enjoy the Canon for a couple of years and then forced to throw away!

Agreed. I need a new printer. Anyone with information on this printer? I'd like a laserjet and this seems to be right up my alley.

No document feeder...So no for me,Scanner is pretty much useless unless you need to scan one by one
