I got this deal last week and it then jumped up to $639. HD brought it back down. If you have the batteries already and needed a couple OPE tools, this deal is solid. Quik-Lok base with String Trimmer, Hedge Trimmer, Edger and Pole Saw. good luck

Just a random comment related to this.. I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the string trimmer.. but I was impressed by the string trimmer. Coming from a curved shaft echo and a straight shaft brute of a husqvarna.. the milwaukee kicked some ass on her maiden voyage.

10/10 would buy again. I've used it once.
I've watched it bounce between the $6xx price to $4xx price for about a year now. This is a good deal compared to the regular price if somebody already has the batteries and charger, and needs all or most of the attachments, but warm-ish for everybody else.

I jumped on the $299 for the string trimmer + hedge trimmer attachment deal that came with a rapid charger and 8.0 Ah battery (https://slickdeals.net/f/14950253-milwaukee-m18-string-trimmer-hedge-trimmer-8-0ah-battery-charger-299-99) because I primarily needed those two attachments, and need more batteries anyway (I heard these outdoor tools eat up battery power like no tomorrow). I'll have to sell the charger (or it isn't a big deal to have a spare) and that's easier that selling off attachments, IMO.

The string trimmer + edger attachment version of the same $299 deal made it to the FP too (https://slickdeals.net/f/14945429-milwaukee-m18-fuel-18v-string-trimmer-w-edger-attachment-8-0ah-battery-303-more-free-shipping).

Milwuakee might be pushing harder on promotions for their outdoor power equipment (OPE) now that summer is rolling around.

Can you use these with the regular m18 batteries, or do they require the Fuel batteries?

Wish I could get the trimmer and edger without battery or charger. Have plenty of m18 batteries and really just need an edger tbh.

Any idea if the attachments are packaged separately? I want most of the tools, except the hedge trimmer. Is there a return hack to eliminate what you don't need?

I will have to sell my Gen 1 line trimmer as well. What do used but excellent condition Gen 1 trimmers sell for?

All tools that are m18 work with any m18 batteries, unless it has a pocket that a larger battery may not fit in like the Gen 1 vacuum.

Does Ryobi or greenworks have anything similar?
Yes they do, it's their Expand-It lineup.

Interesting reading all the comments on the 9 mah battery. We bought a string trimmer kit and used it one summer. Started out real strong and but run time dropped dramatically and battery wouldn't hold charge. MW just sent us a new battery but wonder if this will have the same outcome?

Is the battery that comes with this fans the same model as the one used for this tool?

This is similar but not the same. That hedge trimmer is a standalone unit. The one in the original post is an articulating head that attaches to the quick lock feature of the unit itself which is a bit more useful for some people.

The hedge trimmer in that deal is the same
https://www.acmetools.com/shop/to...49-16-2719

The only difference is that one has a battery and charger and this one is bare tool with no battery.

They are both M18 batteries, but that fan comes with a cheap 2Ah battery. The one on that deal is a XC 8ah battery. The XC batteries put out higher power and run cooler.

I used my M18 hedge trimmer for the first time this weekend. It's got a lot of power. Makes trimming big hedges a breeze.
It is a little heavy and it's very big/long so you'll still want to have a smaller hedge trimmer around for smaller jobs.
The hedge trimmer attachment also comes with a shoulder strap that connects to the main unit. Helps with the weight.

I really need a bush cutter but I just don't want all the hassle for the maintenance of the gas one.

I bought a brush cutter blade and adapter for my GreenWorks 80V string trimmer. it fit perfectly. but somehow when it starts to spin the motor makes a clicking noise and stops like hitting some brake and even kicks the blade backward. I just can't figure out why.
The blade is a little heavier than the trimmer head so I'm guessing the motor can detect the "load" and triggered the shut-off?
I am considering returning the GreenWorks and buy this combo kit.
Has anyone tried to put the brush cutter blade on this string trimmer?
also, if I do that, does 18V give enough power for the blade?

I agree!. I bought the string trimmer and hedge trimmer on last sale. Wife and I used the hedge trimmer, cleaned up the property, switched to the string trimmer cleaned up the yard. Talk about power, impressed with the string trimmer. All on 12ah battery. 3/4 acre.
I finally got around to using the hedge trimmer (whole reason I bought this).. and that sucker is heavy and cumbersome (much respect if the wife used that!) BUT... it gets some work done. The reach and the angles just tears through the yard in no time. I did brush, bushes, and trimmed tree's up from the ground (to mow under branches).. the thing just rocked through it all. Got done and still had 4 bars on the 12.0 (think I'll try 5.0 next time!)
