I love this TV. I bought mine shortly after the holidays. Unfortunately last week it started to develop a pinkish red cloud that stretches across most of the panel. For the first few months it was perfect then bam. I purchased the extended warranty and have protection through my citi card but they all want me to go through the manufacturer's warranty process first. I bought it from Walmart which is unremarkable information except that's where my Allstate protection plan was purchase.

My story is anecdotal but I would say the QC issues on this otherwise beautiful TV are no joke. If you buy it I highly recommend you use a credit card which will cover you and also consider the extended warranty. When I receive a replacement I will also be going over it with a fine tooth comb for any signs of panel defects. The things that's most annoying about this problem is that the 30 day rule where if its not broken right away its probably not going to break doesn't appear to apply to these TV's. They could crap out on you at any time. That said its a gorgeous TV and I hope the replacement I receive will be as good as this one was before it went bad. If they offer me cash or credit I will be going with a Sony 900h or its successor. I have no desire to throw the dice again on one of these.

Been eyeing up this tv and the sony x900h. At this price I could not pass it up and grabbed the 4 years of protection. I have the 55 inch TCL 4 series and have loved it for my ps5 and using it as a pc monitor. I will now give that to my elderly mother who has sight problems and has been using a laptop that has a 15 inch monitor.

Do you know if this will be able to achieve 120fps with 4k resolution on the ps5?

I really want to downvote this because the original MSRP was $650 last year and there many times you could have bought this TV for $578 new, and now for a few bucks, you can get it refurbished and it appears the new MSRP $699 instead. What a bummer. Stupid chip shortage. Who knows will happen to this year's model.

I need a solid 55" for a fairly bright living room. No gaming just causal tv and movie watching. This or the hisense h9g or splurge for the Samsung q80? Have a 4 year old VIZIO M55-D0 that's been solid but moving it to another room.

I did bunch of research, and determined that this is a good buy, I purchased a refurbished from Walmart before, and it arrived in new packaging box. Considering that it has a good review Im taking the chances with it at this price, it's 1/2 the cost of a Sony Sony 900 series, yes sony has better QC but but by how much. I figure this would be good for 3 yrs hopefully until new technology is out.

There was a New 55 Hisense 9 series last week for $650 at Amazon and I believe this TLC is still a better buy, and LG OLED refurbished for $999 a month ago wouldve been top choice , OLED are the ones that stand out from all the other TVs and worth the extra money but was 3 hr drive to pickup. At this time in the game splurging crazy money on technology that hasn't changed much in the last few years is not worth it.

does anyone know what the -B at the end of the model number is? does that just denote a refurb?

The Sony is a better all around TV..period

But where are you coming up with half the cost?

I thought the Sony X900 was like $1150 for a 65"

I'm comparing the 55 inch... This 6 series TCL new is $700 Sony 900 series is $1000.... While refurbished is $550 and a steal for quality. Certain things brand names matter in the TV segment, not as much maybe I'm wrong but that seems to be my observation as most manufactures buy panels from Samsung and LG

I thought they said they weren't doing 1440p due to the console is made for TV.s. I ended up going with a Xbox this release and I will never go back. 1440p@120hz on this TV is amazing with the series X

Get the TCL. Sony is not worth the extra money.

I think you said twice as much ...right?.. $700 versus $1000 is not 2X
I guess secondly.its maybe a sale thing..unless you cant fit a 65", a person would be crazy not to spend $100 more and get a 10 " larger TV
It would not be a stretch t see a refurb Sony( or samsung of the same quality) for $650-700 at some point
So..you are somewhat comparing apples to oranges with new and refurb

Samsung actually buys panels from other manufacturers for all but their top end TV's..if I recall correctly

However the trick is the picture processing technology
TCL was known to have banding issues and pretty bad DSE. Granted it could vary from panel to panel. Hence the reason people would buy and return them multiple times to get an acceptable panel
