At least for me, aside from long hold times due to COVID, Costco customer service has always been phenomenal.

I'm currently going back and forth with Microsoft support with no luck. There is no repair option. They are aware of this issue. The only resolution they offer is sending you a refurbished model in exchange for $600. Not a new model, the same refurbished model which is likely to have the same issue in a year or two.
Microsoft's TOS upon using their devices makes you agree to their arbitration clause, making it extremely difficult to sue them. Surprised a class action hasn't formed yet. You can always file small claims but look luck actually collecting.
I'm not sure if the surface laptop has this issue because it isn't a touch screen but you should triple check. Either way, our family won't be buying any Microsoft products anymore. This is our 2nd surface book with this same issue.
Quick google search will show you how severe this problem is.

Even newborn Chinese PC makers know how to make thin bezels, but $1.5 trillion company that pioneered PC still makes laptops with bezels like it 5 year old tech.

This is a discontinued item since the SL4 is out. But a decent deal none the less.
